Whether your company decided that January was a better time to host their annual party or they just fancy hosting another to welcome in the year, then check out these eight venues which are offering everything from ping pong and cocktail making to private dining and karaoke.
What: A Taste of Island Life
Why: January is a time when we look forward… mainly to our summer holiday; flights are on sale and villas are just begging to be booked. But if you can’t wait till July, you’ll be wanting a feast fit for island life. Trader Vic’s can host events from 10 to 300 guests and with varying set menus including Tahitian prawn skewers, BBQ Indonesian rack of lamb and rum ice cream. Hula skirt optional.
Where: 22 Park Lane, London
What: Private Dining Den
Why: In the heart of Fitzrovia, Percy & Founders has a whole range of areas for private events, whether you want to reserve a large table for a lunch party or a more private den for a business event. For an event with the fun factor we like the kitchen tables; high stools positioned by the open kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work and for a smarter or more intimate event, you’ll want to head downstairs to Percy’s Den; a private dining room that can seat 24, or 35 standing complete with Bose surround sound, wi-fi and an Apple TV.
Where: Fitzroy Place, 1 Pearson Square, London, W1T 3BF
What: Traditional Private Dining
Why: For a traditional sit down meal with a dose of elegance, Shepherd’s of Westminster takes a lot of beating. Two set menus are available for group dining, with two dining rooms; The St Stephens Room can seat 30 or accommodate 60 standing, whilst The Marsham Room caters for a more intimate group of 8. Our pick on the menu? It’s got to be the fish pie followed by date pudding with Irish cream caramel.
Where: Marsham Court, Marsham Street, London SW1P 4LA
What: Canal-Side Views
Why: For a venue with a view, Granary Square’s The Lighterman is a great bet. The first floor space can be hired for a sit down meal for 60, or 100 standing and whilst you may not make full use of it in January, the wrap-around terrace is a pretty tempting feature, looking down on the canal below. The modern British menu includes spelt flour flat breads and drinks-wise, biodynamic wines, craft beers and seasonal cocktails spell party…
Where: 3 Granary Square, London, N1C 4BH
What: Rum Masterclasses
Why: Forget that it’s January and head to into the Mahiki jungle for their Tiki cocktail masterclasses. It’s two hours of canapes, cocktails and plenty of rum. You’ll then be divided into two groups to see who can create the best cocktail, so now is time for some healthy office competition/the chance to prove to the others you’re better, not sure if it’ll get you a promotion… but still.
Where: Mahiki, Dover Street, London
What: Waived Private Room Hire
Why: Bounce are waiving their room hire on all private events in January which is rather nice of them. What is also rather nice is that each of their private rooms has its own bar, 3 tables ready for ping pong, canapes, unlimited drink packages, the chance to include a Games Guru, all of which is available for up to 120 guests. If you’re on Old Street there is a selfie pod and in Farringdon they have a karaoke system, so now is your time to impress…
Where: 121 Holborn, London, EC1N 2TD
What: Private Dining
Why: If you’re looking for a beautiful, intimate setting then Charlotte Street Hotel’s private dining room, the Dora Carrington Room, is the perfect setting for a private dinner party or lunch for up to ten people or a drinks reception for fifteen and it only costs £120 to hire for an hour.
Where: 15-17 Charlotte Street, London, W1T 1RJ
What: 50% Off Room Hire
Why: Not only will you feel great after belting out your favourite song, it doesn't matter if your tone deaf we're not judging, but you'll feel even better when you get 50% off room hire at Lucky Voice and two for one cocktails. They sure do spoil you, but be quick you only have a few days left to make the most of this offer!
