“I’m A Culture Writer & These Are The 5 London Festivals I’m Planning To Attend This Summer”

Every summer, London’s musical calendar delivers a run of lineups so impressive that any lingering Coachella FOMO instantly evaporates. From the fields of Victoria Park to the glitter-soaked stages in Brixton, there is something uniquely special about the city’s music scene at this time of year. I’ve rounded up the five festivals that have me constantly hitting refresh on the ticket pages, featuring everything from legendary pop icons to the very best in jazz and soul. If you’re looking to fill your summer schedule, these are the ones you won’t want to miss:

All Points East
The festival at the top of my radar each year is always All Points East. Situated in Victoria Park, each summer it promises a three-day lineup of back-to-back big names, and this year is set to be no different. Yes, the park gets incredibly dusty (expect to leave desperately needing a long shower), but the music alone makes it well worth it. Among the artists set to headline are Tyler, the Creator, Jorja Smith, Lorde and Rex Orange County.
I personally am holding out for Saturday tickets, where Lorde will be joined by the likes of Sienna Spiro, Zara Larsson, DJO, and Pinkpantheress.

Cross The Tracks
Another one taking place in Brockwell Park this May, this year’s Cross The Tracks lineup could take top spot for me. This Jazz, Funk and Soul festival has set the stage for some of my favourite artists, most recently Ezra Collective, Erykah Badu and Khruangbin.
This May bank holiday it promises to deliver once again, with Little Simz, Joy Crookes, and Don West being among those to keep an eye out for.

GALA Festival
If All Points East is a high-production blockbuster, GALA is the cool, independent film everyone is talking about. It’s tucked away in Peckham Rye Park and has a reputation for being one of the best-sounding and best-tasting festivals in London.
GALA offers a more intimate and curated lineup of artists with headline acts including Giggs, D Double E, Peach and Palm Trax. The sound is also accompanied by a great selection of food offerings, with Honest Burgers and Krickets being among the venue’s partners.
Unlike some of the bigger players on this list, GALA prides itself on its more local feel. It’s friendly, unpretentious, and surprisingly spacious for a London park fest.

Mighty Hoopla
If you missed out on Lily Allen‘s West End Girl tour tickets, this is your chance to finally hear tracks Madeline and Dallas Major live this summer.
Held in Brockwell Park, Brixton, Mighty Hoopla is London’s most vibrant, inclusive, and unapologetically ‘pop’ weekend. Taking place later this month, Allen will be joined by the likes of the Scissor Sisters, Perrie and Estelle for a weekend-long celebration of the musical genre.

BST Hyde Park
Of course, this lineup wouldn’t be complete without one of London’s main calendar events, BST Hyde Park. In recent years, it has set the stage for Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, Blackpink and Olivia Rodrigo.
However, the entry I am most looking forward to from this year’s lineup has to be Mumford & Sons. What better way to spend a summer’s evening than by belting classics like I Will Wait, Little Lion Man and White Blank Page?
Other artists taking to the BST stage this summer include Lewis Capaldi, Pitbull and Duran Duran.
