The 2025 Met Gala happened while you were sleeping, with the biggest names in fashion and Hollywood ascending the famed New York steps.

As always, the event had a sartorial theme, and this year’s was ‘Costume Art’ with attendees assigned the dress code: ‘Fashion is Art’. Scroll down to see The Handbook team’s favourite looks from the red carpet.

Sabrina’s tribute to her on-screen namesake is truly incredible. With such attention to detail – her dress was literally made of film from the movie, and reel-inspired nail art – plus, the fact this year’s Met fell on Audrey Hepburn’s birthday made the whole thing brilliant.

Doechii for me. Fulfilled the costume gala brief to the letter and anyone who is brave enough to bare that much skin AND go barefoot wins it.

I thought Emma Chamberlain was exceptionally well dressed, especially considering the theme. The silhouette was everything — striking & dramatic and still capturing the eccentricity I get excited about for the Met Gala without tipping into gimmick or meme.

Zoe Kravitz looked beautiful, ethereal and like she’d fallen from a painting. But interesting she kept her hand in her pocket..

I thought Luke Evans’ Tom of Finland vibe was a really fun take on the theme and he looked incredible.

Connor nailed his Met debut! Effortless suiting with a blouse that softened the whole look. The feminine touch made it feel fresh, I’d wear that blouse in a heartbeat.

Gigi is always one I look out for on the Met Gala carpet. While she dialled back the drama slightly this year, I still adored the look.

Anok did a beautiful job with the Black Madonna. This was the highlight of the evening for me. The nod to Mater Dolorosa felt timely and intentional.

Loved Kate Moss’s whole look. She kept it effortless; sheer, a little undone, with a classic red lip, signature tousled hair and rock chick look, like she just threw on her YSL gown.
