Weekend Watches: Obliterated Is Netflix’s Madcap New Comedy To Binge

Looking for a new comedy series to binge? Loved watching the likes of Extraordinary, The Big Door Prize and Shrinking? Netflix has the answer: the new eight-part dramedy Obliterated, a Hangover-style romp in Las Vegas in which a team of Navy SEALS race against the clock to deal with a bomb planted by terrorists… that they thought they’d already disarmed.
It’s set to arrive on the streaming service on Thursday 30th November, so read on for everything we know so far.
What is Obliterated about?

Obliterated is created by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who together have been behind Netflix’s acclaimed Cobra Kai, as well as the American Pie sequel, American Reunion.
Set in the partying, gambling city of Vegas, it centres around an elite team comprised of several members of the US Army. Including the Navy Seals and the CIA, it follows them as they’re dispatched to find and disable a high-powered nuclear bomb threatening to destroy the city and wreak havoc. Working together, the team is convinced that they’re one step ahead of the terrorists that planted the explosives and manage to successfully complete their mission without much havoc.
To let off steam and toast a successful outcome, they decide to let their hair down and party the night away. Drugs, sex, alcohol…. what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?
What else do we know?

But as it turns out, their mission isn’t complete. The bomb that they’d so easily neutralised was a fake, and the real one remains undiscovered and waiting to explode.
Still intoxicated and coming down from their partying high, the team has to band together again to hunt down the actual bomb and get rid of it, as well as discover who is responsible for the chaos. But sobering up fast isn’t easy, and fighting through a hangover to get rid of a nuclear weapon is even harder.
The official trailer for the series begins like any other high-octane thriller: guns being aimed, bombs being slowly disarmed and an altogether tense atmosphere. Once the bomb is disarmed and the team celebrates “saving Vegas”, all seems calm- until one of them receives an ominous message that they’ve been deceived and that they only have a few hours until Armageddon.
Who else stars?
Obliterated is set to feature an ensemble cast that includes Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow star Nick Zano as Chad, a Navy SEAL and leader of the team, Shelley Hennig (Mythic Quest), as Ava, a CIA agent, Terrence Terrell (Criminal Minds) as another Navy SEAL, alongside C. Thomas Howell (Creepshow) and Carl Lumbly (The Fall of the House of Usher).
When will it be released?
The series arrives on Netflix on 30th November.
