Next month Chelsea restaurant and club Barbarella – London’s original den of iniquity is set to relaunch under new ownership and management. The restaurant and nightclub has undergone a glamorous £2 million refurbishment and promises to become the place to see and be seen once again.

The Chelsea institution will open to invited members and guests with a series of launch parties and  autumn events. Barbarella is set to combine decadent style with luxurious and laidback comfort with a 100-seater restaurant serving classic food alongside a selection innovative cocktails.

Every night the restaurant will turn into a nightclub with DJs getting party-goers into the Barbarella spirit. To give guests that extra something special, a glamorous array of hostesses will tantalise diners with a unique jelly menu guaranteed to make proceedings go with a wobble if not a bang.

Spearheading the re-launch is entrepreneur, socialite and PR Jack Freud (from Pharmacy to The Groucho Club) and lending a helping hand is Alice Wilson (Raffles and The Brompton Club) and Nick Valentine (co-founder of The Cuckoo Club). Says Freud, “We’re delighted to be able to bring back an institution in the heart of Chelsea. 2012 has proved such an incredible year of celebrations for our capital, we’re delighted to be a part of it by giving Londoners somewhere to continue the party.”

Barbarella promises have a sleek house party vibe but without hassle of having to clean up in the morning. We also hear dancing on the tables will be encouraged.
