The cliché ‘go big or go home‘ has never felt more relevant as designers amped up their SS24 handbag collections with huge shoppers and gigantic totes. If you lead a busy life like us at The Handbook HQ, flitting between the office, yoga class and fancy restaurants, you’ll be wanting an oversized bag pronto…

As ever, fashion month was a wondrous display of contrasts. There were the insanely cute, dinky micro totes at Givenchy, Chanel and Versace, while over on the runways at Loewe, The Row, Victoria Beckham and Bottega Veneta, it was all about the supersized, oversized bag. The ultimate carryall – literally. Huge, capacious shoppers guaranteed to hold everything from your make-up, gym gear and laptop to even your pet chihuahua. I know which trend I’m on board with.

Big bags are a way of life for most of us as we juggle chaotic lifestyles. The Anine Bing Kate Tote has been a personal game-changer for me. An investment piece that looks good, withstands a daily battering and consistently holds all my life together, it’s been worth the bank balance burden. Although, the much more affordable Topshop iterations have definitely got my attention, too.

The Row’s XL Idaho is – unsurprisingly – another designer favourite with influencers. It’s roomy and spacious, without sacrificing the label’s renowned pared-back aesthetic. For bags of a similar vein with a less overwhelming price tag, check out Arket, Cos and Massimo Dutti. Honestly, while my back may not love me for owning an XL bag, my disorganised brain definitely does… a few extra pockets wouldn’t go amiss though!

Launched in 2006 by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row has become one of the most covetable labels in fashion circles.

With a ‘less is more’ aesthetic, the pieces have a luxurious, timeless quality, including the XL Idaho tote. Already on the arms of the most stylish, like Monikh, we’re adding to our wish lists.
