While Instagram is an incredible source of fashion inspiration, the constant push for newness can be exhausting, and the pressure to buy into new-season trends can be overwhelming. Here, The Handbook’s Contributing Fashion & Lifestyle Editor, Astrid Carter, takes on the challenge of shopping her own wardrobe to recreate looks inspired by her recent Instagram saves.

How I styled it…

A person in a long coat stands on a patterned rug in a cosy room with green seating, large windows, and scenic hills outside on a cloudy day. Warm lamps sit by the windows, whilst vintage decor and designer dupes add character to the space.

I love Clara’s modern take on retro, from her moody ‘70s palette to tactile finishes like suede and fringe. Here, I’ve drawn inspiration from her silhouette and proportions rather than individual pieces (though, obviously, I’d love a pair of those olive Gucci boots). To recreate the look, I’ve used pieces that mirror hers: a vintage-feel Kitri patchwork coat, grey-wash denim, and the Penelope Chilvers boots I’ve owned for years.

How I styled it…

A woman stands in a stylish living room with bookshelves and a fireplace, wearing a chic brown suede jacket and green checked trousers—recreate outfits like this or shop my wardrobe for similar pieces.

I’ve worn these tartan trousers on repeat since I bought them in the January sales, but I usually pair them with a chunky knit and loafers. I love this more spring-appropriate way to transition them into the new season, too.

Look 3

How I styled it…

A woman with long brown hair takes a mirror selfie in a stylish living room. She wears a white blouse with puffed sleeves and light trousers—an easy look to recreate for your own wardrobe, inspired by insta dupes and modern decor.

Jeans and a nice top will forever be my evening go-to, but swapping denim for tailored trousers adds an instant layer of polish. Pointed-toe mules and vintage earrings complete the look.
