3 Easy Way To Wear SS25’s Pleated Skirts

Present in the Spring/Summer ’25 collections of Miu Miu, Prada and Chloé, to name a few, pleated skirts are set to be a huge trend this season. The shorter-than-short mini pleated skirt – granted, not for everyone – has been knocking around for a few seasons now, but for spring 2025, there is an abundance of styles that cater to a whole host of looks. From preppy styles to tartan kilts and classic midis for a bit of polish, let us talk you through this season’s most wearable skirt trend.
Mini pleated skirts
Remember the Miu Miu skirt with underwear poking out from the brand’s Spring/Summer ’22 collection? Well, this is kind of a hangover from that – a much more wearable hangover. The pleated mini is nothing new, but they are popping up everywhere this season.
We love María Valdés’s classic grey look modernised with a pop of red tights and Mary-Janes, while Natasha Narrina plays into a preppy vibe with a sporty cap and cult Ralph Lauren teddy jumper. Keep things cooler with statement silver jewellery, chunky loafers and socks, and an oversized white shirt popping out beneath.

Sporty pleated skirts with sneakers
We always love a high/low juxtaposed look, and this is just that. Take a really traditional pleated skirt and pair it with sporty trainers for an unexpected look. We love a tartan skirt paired with a street style back-printed tee – very Damson Madder girl – or a kilt-like skirt with a grey marl sweatshirt and Adidas Gazelles or Sambas.

Finally, wearing a pleated skirt in the way it was intended – polished and pulled together – will always be a go-to look when you need to feel smart. We love Chrystelle Eriksberger’s tonal take on the trend layered with a classic trench, as well as María Valdés’ super elegant navy piece paired with this season’s rugby shirt trend and colour-pop neckerchief.
