Damson Madder Is The Affordable Brand On Every Fashion Girl’s Radar
Few fashion newcomers enter the industry and catapult to ‘cult status’ as quickly as Damson Madder. Founded in 2020 by Emma Hill, the British brand has quickly cemented its place among the style set.
For context, earlier this year, we included Damson Madder in a round-up of the best affordable fashion brands flying under the radar. And now it’s only getting bigger, so it feels like the right time to spotlight the local label. At Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW), the name was alive and well, with the city serving as a source of inspiration for Hill over the years.
Why everyone’s talking about it
Based in London, Damson Madder’s aesthetic is defined by an effortless, playful aesthetic. Expect sweet bows, slouchy silhouettes, fun prints, larger-than-life collars, and plenty of ruffles. The overall ‘vibe’ feels very Scandi cool but at a much more accessible price point than you might expect.

With that being said, Hill also focuses on adopting responsible practices, including a slower and smaller approach to fashion. Damson Madder releases small batches (12-35 styles per drop) with a maximum of 350 pieces per style to help minimise waste. From a design perspective, each item is created with longevity in mind – intended to be worn for years to come, rather than a season.
As for how the brand got its distinct name, Emma says that in the early days of testing out natural dyes, two of her favourites were called ‘Damon’ (plum) and ‘Madder’ (flower).
Their signature pieces
While the brand has plenty of identifiable pieces, a handful of designs have truly captured the hearts of fashion folk.
First and foremost are the baggy, leopard print cargos that went viral earlier this year (and with good reason). They’re the perfect amount of ‘slouchy’ while maintaining a flattering shape.
Meanwhile, at CPHFW, the label’s ‘Dakota’ prairie-style midi dress was spotted at many a front row.

For those looking to invest in a statement item to see you through the transitional months, look no further than Damson Madder’s quilted vests feature bow-tie fastenings at the front.
