Royal Purple Is The Marmite Colour Trend Of The Season

While chocolate brown and burgundy dominate AW26, royal purple is offering a bold, bright alternative. Less a classic, more a statement, content creators are wearing with colourful abandon.
The undeniable Marmite hue of the moment. For some, it’s too much; for others, it offers a much-needed pop of fun alongside the more grounded, earthy colours, like browns, greens and wines, currently at the forefront of fashion trends. Plus, purple feels more playful than cobalt blue, but less fiery than a pop of red. It certainly felt that way on the runways, with Céline serving up a standout purple trench coat, Loewe an incredible sculptural mini, and Gucci a spectacular sequin number. Ferragamo, Chanel, and Valentino all also dabbled in the richness that purple offers.
For me, the fastest way to incorporate the purple colour trend into your autumn/winter wardrobe is via cosy, yet chic knitwear. Think vibrant roll-necks, chunky sweaters, and even a boutique-style cardi. Then, of course, you can consider accessories, specifically gloves, which appear to be the fashion girl thing.
On the high street, Cos, Mango and Zara have added this rich shade to their autumn palette. However, for a hint of that pared-back luxury with a touch of party, Reformation is the place to head.
Consider braving top-to-toe purple, or, keeping it bold, pair with red. Team with that trending chocolate brown or olive green for a touch of sophistication, yet no less cool.
