Three of my go-to independent homeware shops are ones that continue to offer up an eclectic array of original treasures to add to my home. Lamp/LDN

Oh how I love this store. And I’m not alone. It’s become a must in the local area for gifts, decor and even an inspired interior design service. The word has spread and now the online shop is a veritable haven for design enthusiasts. Created by Anna McGregor and Lotte Martin, founders of a creative design and event agency of the same name with over 30 years experience, the duo wanted to provide a space where you can shop for beautiful, sustainable products.
They source most of their inventory from independent designers in the UK and Europe, while also forging strong relationships. In fact, they have just launched a candle collaboration with Kent-based KS Creative Pottery. The collection brings the iconic Picasso-esque Isolation Face’s to candles. Hand thrown from Staffordshire white stoneware and intricately painted, each candle is infused with the scent of Blackcurrent Leaf, which has been carefully curated by True Grace.
From the most stunning tableware to fun tea towels, Lamp/LDN is the perfect blend of joy, talent and homeware delights.

Founder Ayshea McCormack’s tagline for her business is ‘Experts In The Art Of Nesting’. This could not be more perfect for what is essentially a gorgeous big hug of a shop. It all began with the most beautiful sheepskin slippers, which were so sought after that they funded the growth of the business. Actually, they proved so popular that she took the production in-house. Four artisan families in Poland hand make them throughout the year, using offcuts from Rolls Royce car interiors and embroider them with British rare breed organic yarns. My whole family has a pair, so I can attest to both their cosiness and comfort.
McCormack clearly has an eye for timeless pieces. The Small Home makes for a serene shopping experience, featuring an edit of handcrafted, luxurious pieces. Quoting the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi as a huge inspiration, she has embraced the natural imperfections that come with certain materials, allowing us, as the customer, to invest in products that will stand the test of time.

Colour is not in shortage here, and I’m here for it. We’re talking quirky, bold homeware pieces guaranteed to elevate your home. After fixing up her own home, founder and ex-style director of The Telegraph, Sophie Warburton, realised she couldn’t find those unique finishing touches that wouldn’t break the budget. So, by seeking out craftspeople and manufacturers and working with them directly, she discovered a world of untapped creativity. From there Host was born.
Warburton has travelled extensively and it’s evident in her wonderful selection of quilts, candle holders and tableware. From urns made in Portugal, to handblown glasses from the Czech Republic, it feels like a showcase for the world’s traditional skills. Something we really ought to cherish and support.
