Sometimes you just want to escape with a good old-fashioned comedy- and Spa Weekend, releasing next month, definitely looks like it fits that bill. It stars Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, Anna Faris and Michelle Buteau as four friends who decide to go on a luxurious spa weekend together to unwind- but none of them realises how chaotically things are about to pan out. Here’s everything we know so far:

What is Spa Weekend about?

Spa Weekend comes from the same writers as The Hangover, and it follows three lifelong friends who realise they’ve become so consumed by careers, relationships and everyday responsibilities that they’ve forgotten how to actually enjoy themselves in life. Burnt out and long overdue for a break together, they decide to escape to a luxury spa resort in Palm Springs, Florida for a few days of pampering and relaxation, as well as to reinvigorate their friendships.

Unfortunately, their carefully planned retreat doesn’t stay peaceful for very long. The three women (Jane played by Leslie Mann, Sophie played by Anna Faris and Coco played by Michelle Buteau) expect to have a quietly peaceful weekend away, but this is upended when their wildly unpredictable trainwreck friend Mel (played by Isla Fisher) unexpectedly joins the trip. What was meant to be a few days of massages, meditation and poolside cocktails quickly spirals into complete mayhem as things go off-rails.

As one bad decision leads to another, the friend group find themselves dealing with increasingly outrageous situations that threaten both their holiday and their long-standing closeness. Even though Mel is the most chaotic one who always causes mishaps, the other three still feel a protective need to take care of her- but can their bonds as friends make it through such a crazy weekend unscathed?

Spa Weekend seems to be very much in the same vein as The Hangover and other comedies like Bridesmaids, flipping that idyllic spa retreat with friends idea on its head. The official trailer for the film gives a glimpse of the kind of raucous fun you can expect, with spa treatments going wrong, off-road buggy driving and, bizarrely enough, “goat yoga”. The rest of the cast, meanwhile, includes Adam Demos and Peter Thurnwald.

When does it release?

The good news is Spa Weekend is officially set to arrive in cinemas next month, on August 21st 2026, and you can watch the zany trailer below.
