The Handbook
The Handbook

With coronavirus cases on the rise, it’s more important than ever to keep yourself and others safe. A fundamental part of this process is ensuring your hands are regularly washed and sanitised to fight off any pesky germs.

Back in March we guided you through a tutorial of Kourtney Kardashian’s homemade hand sanitiser, but rather than making your own, we’ve rounded up 13 of the best sanitisers on the market that’ll keep your hands hydrated, fresh and most importantly protected when you’re on the go.

Plant-Based Moisturising Hand Gel, Babington Soap Co.

Help combat your dry and cracked skin with Babington Soap Co.’s nourishing little hand gel number.

Believe it or not, sanitisers are generally quite bad for our skin, but Babington Soap Co.’s is designed to be a cosmetic and part of your daily skin care routine. The plant-based moisturiser in created with six simple natural ingredients: ethanol, water, modified cellulose, organic lemongrass oil, chitosan and lactic acid, which is why we’ve teamed up with them to offer our readers 25% off all products at Babington Soap Co., plus free shipping. Natural Defence Hand Spray, Neal’s Yard

Known for their bestselling skin care products and essential oils, Neal’s Yard also boasts a great selection of hand sanitisers, perfect for tackling those pesky germs.

Lightly fragranced, the Natural Defence Hand Spray contains 70% alcohol and is delicately blended with Neal’s Yard’s renowned essential oils, including lemongrass, witch hazel and niaouli. It’s light, fresh and won’t leave you with a lingering sticky touch.

Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash, Aesop

Every beauty guru and magazine editor has waxed lyrical about Aesop’s stunning skin care range, notably their Resurrection hand wash, but we want to draw your attention to their hand sanitiser options. Their Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash is a non-drying, alcohol-based formulation with purifying and hydrating properties that allow you to freshen up while on the go.

Despite their skin care products typically expensive price tag, Aesop’s rinse-free hand wash comes in at a rather reasonable price of £7.00.

Mango Hand Cleanse Gel, The Body Shop

We can always count on The Body Shop to deliver on exceptional natural, vegan goods and their Mango Hand Cleanse Gel is no different. It’s both affordable and kills 99.9% of bacteria, helping to provide protection for hours on end.

Of course, in true Body Shop style, they’ve got a few fruity options available so if you’re not a lover of mango, there’s a coconut alternative for you to enjoy.

Those on the hunt for a refreshing fragrance should try out Dr Bronner’s Organic Hand Hygiene Spray.

Available in Lavender and Peppermint fragrances, it’s both organic and natural, but is just as effective as your typical branded sanitiser.

Hydrating Hand Sanitiser, Margaret Dabbs

Feet, hands and legs specialists Margaret Dabbs boasts a selection of hand sanitising products that’ll keep you feeling fresh, clean and safe while you’re out and about. We love their Hydrating Hand Sanitiser lotion as it leaves your hands feeling super smooth and nourished, rather than dry and cracked.

Suitable for those prone to dry skin, the Purif-I Soothing and Sanitising Hand Spray absorbs super quick so you can quickly wash and get on with your day.

Charlotte’s Floral Hand Sanitiser Spray, Purdy & Figg

Boutique sanitising brand, Purdy & Figg have several fruity, essential oil sanitisers but our favourite is Charlotte’s Floral Hand Sanitiser Spray, a fresh blend of antiseptic and cleansing lemon citrus oil. It comes in a spray form which is a nice added change to the usual gel.

Hand Sanitiser Gel, Bramley

Bramley’s hand sanitising gel is jam packed with rosemary, spearmint and peppermint essential oils to keep your hands fresh, safe and clean. Containing 60% alcohol, it’s infused with these fresh fragrances that come straight from the British countryside.

Antibacterial Hand Spray, Sanctuary Spa

Another antibacterial lotion in the form of a spray, Sanctuary Spa’s option is a non-sticky, rinse free formula. It’s packed with 70% alcohol content, as well as fragranced with their signature scents including fresh bergamot, sharp citrus fruits and rose.

SOS Skin Shield, Beauty Kitchen

We love Beauty Kitchen because they’ve gone one step further on the shielding front by introducing their SOS Skin Shield+, an invisible shield that protects your face because you touch your face approximately 16 times per hour.

Simply spritz over your clean skin and allow to dry naturally, and it’ll help keep germs away for up to four hours. Beauty Kitchen also uses sustainable packaging, designed with reusability in mind.

Hand Sanitiser, Haoma

One you can pick up at your local Planet Organic, Haoma is a light, refreshing antibacterial spray packed with organic tea tree and sweet orange essential oils. It’s currently half price too, bonus.
