Nowadays might be a better time than any other to be a fan of thrillers: there’s been a huge amount of them on streaming recently, from holidays that go wrong to marriages that go wrong. Milk Kunis is set to star in a brand new thriller film that’s hotly anticipated from Netflix that’s set to join these ranks tomorrow, October 7th.

The Luckiest Girl Alive features the That 70s Show and Family Guy star in the main role, as well serving as its producer. The film is an adaptation of the 2015 best selling novel by American author Jessica Knoll, and will be arriving on the streaming serving service on 7th October.

Kunis is having a big moment this year, with both this film and the long-awaited That 90s Show reunion around the corner. The film sees Mila Kunis as Ani FaNelli, who works for a magazine and seems to have a great life: a glamorous job, a loving fiancé, and a good family. However, her life is in reality a fabrication, which she created to detach herself from the past, in order to move past traumatic events.

However, when she’s approached by a director for an interview for a true crime documentary, she’s suddenly forced to relive and come to terms with the painful experiences. She knows however that if she tells all about her story, the perfect illusion she created for herself will be shattered. Ani begins to question whether the life she has, ideal as it seems, is what she really needs and whether it is in fact hindering her from moving on.

The novel that serves as the basis of the film is based on the real-life experiences of Jessica Knoll, who went through similar experiences to the character of Ani in real life. Knoll is involved with the production of the film, writing its screenplay. Alongside Kunis, the film will also star Finn Wittrock, Jennifer Beals, Scoot McNairy, and Chiara Aurelia.
