Love Emily In Paris? That Map That Leads To You Is Your Next Watch

While the fifth season of Emily in Paris starring Lily Collins won’t be back on our screens for a little while, Amazon Prime may be able to indulge your cravings for European romantasy with its new film The Map That Leads To You. Based on the novel of the same name by J.P. Monninger, it also follows an American girl (Madelyn Cline) as she sets off for Europe on vacation with her best mates. Along the way, she falls for a local stranger- but is it all too good to be true? Here’s everything you need to know.
What is The Map That Leads To You about?
Madelyn Cline (Glass Onion, I Know What You Did Last Summer) stars as Heather, a young woman who gets the chance to go on a dream holiday to Europe with her best friends. Everything looks set to be perfectly idyllic as she and her friends (played by Sofia Wylie and Madison Thompson) begin their continental journey, but it’s on the train that she unexpectedly meets a stranger. Jack (played by KJ Apa), the tall and handsome type, and the two of them have an instant spark. Of course, Heather’s friends are keen to get all the details, and before she knows it, she’s suddenly swept on an emotional (and romantic) rollercoaster.

The two cross paths again, and as their connection deepens, they mutually discover unexpected secrets about the other, both testing their bond and changing Heather’s life in ways she never imagined. Jack is spontaneous and untethered, other than following a journal he inherited of places that his grandfather visited and wrote about. Heather, meanwhile, is keen to follow perfect plans and itineraries – and hates not knowing where she’ll go next. The newly smitten Heather always thought she had her future perfectly planned out, but as she is challenged in her ways by Jack, she discovers that life doesn’t always pan out in the way we quite expect.
The official trailer for The Map That Leads To You introduces us to our main cast, but also gives a glimpse of some of the scenic locations they’ll be visiting across Europe: Spain, France, Italy and more all feature in Heather’s romantic voyage. The film drops on Amazon Prime today [20th August].
