We have never wanted a sartorial pick-me-up more than now, and never have we wanted to inject our wardrobes with colour quite as much as we do right now. The good news is spring is sort-of on the horizon, and a cheerfully bright knit is the tonic you never knew your wardrobe needed…

January is a notoriously difficult month and this year we’re going to need to muster even more strength and positivity than ever before to make it through. So, here’s to focusing on the future and doing whatever we can to lift our spirits before then.

The year has just begun and that fresh start we all craved has been put on hold, but there is one area of your life you can refresh fairly instantaneously (without breaking a sweat) and that’s your wardrobe.

Assuming you’re fed up with the tracksuits and loungewear which defined lockdowns 1.0 and 2.0, then we are ready to inject some optimism into your life, courtesy of beautifully, bright knits.

Consider this fashion’s antidote to the current state of affairs. Colour is a phychological mood-booster. Reds and oranges can evoke feelings of warmth, blues and greens translate to calmness and tranquility, and yellow – quite literally – brings joy. So in theory, we can dress ourselves happy and calm this month.

With Zoom calls the professional meeting-platform of our immediate future, we all still need to project the right frame of mind. Getting dressed to work (even from home) shifts your brain into gear, and while a shirt and blazer seems slightly unnecessary, a simple but bold knit will speak volumes about your composure, as well as your mood. It might also ensure you’re the most memorable square on the grid.

There’s plenty to choose from too – neon pink, dip-dye, ultra-voilet, electric blue and of course ever-optimistic yellow. So make a bright knit your sartorial highlight for 2021 and shop our edit of the best, here.
