The Weekend Edit: How To Wear Dreamy Winter Whites
It may not be the most practical of trends, but it’s without a doubt one of the chicest. Here’s how to wear head-to-toe winter whites this season…
Whites might typically scream summertime by the pool but there’s something undeniably elegant about an all white winter look. From chunky cable knits to fine jumper dresses, leg-lengthening palazzo pants to Bianca Jagger-esque white tailoring, these milky hues will forever hold a place in our sartorial hearts.
Spotted on Insta style stars such as Caroline Daur and Pernille Teisbaek, there are many ways to wear the look this season, from relaxed and sporty – we love Pernille’s mix of a cosy, loose tailored trousers and off-duty cap; to Daur’s ultra-glam, creamy fringed overcoat – Mango has a great high street interpretation right now.
Speaking of the high street, there are plenty of ways to get the look without blowing the budget. Look to & Other Stories for the best collection of white knitwear we’ve seen all season, from pretty pearl-embellished cardigans to timeless button-through dresses. While Zara has some excellent knee-high, 70’s-inspired boots in the same vein as the Paris Texas pair everyone’s itching to get their hands on, but for a fifth of the price. And it’s worth checking out H&M and ARKET for a modern take on white tailoring – we love the former’s oversized cream blazer paired with wide-leg white trousers and trainers.
For accessories, Acne’s Musubi bag is top of our wish list, while Dear Frances’s Rae boots are a nice alternative to classic black Chelseas and will go with everything from weekend denim to floaty dresses. They also have the perfect wear-all-day heel height for added comfort.
Finally, if top-to-toe white takes you too far out of your comfort zone, break the monochromatic palette up with a mix of neutrals, from textured oatmeals to classic camel or soft grey.
If head to toe bright white seems too daring, break up a monochromatic colour palette with easier-to-wear off-whites. Ida Héritier’s classic beige trench layered over a white vest and paired with dad sneakers gives the look a more modern, sporty feel.
Instagram superstar Pernille Teisbaek gives a masterclass in how to do all-white in a softer, more wearable way. The luxe knit and tailored trousers paired with an off-duty cap keep things a little cooler.
