Enjoy Afternoon Tea with The Rubens at the Palace. There is no better place to enjoy this traditional English occasion than sitting back in our Palace Lounge overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace. The pastry kitchen at The Rubens is led by our talented pastry chef Stephanie, producing the freshest pastries and cakes for our guests to enjoy. With a reputation as one of the best in London, and recently commended at the Afternoon Tea Awards 2016, we pay respect to the tradition of Afternoon Tea whilst incorporating fresh twists along the way. We also cater for a range of dietary requirements. Our delicious Afternoon Tea features mouth-watering pastries that were heavily influenced by Royal events and dining trends throughout the centuries. From Her Majesty the Queen’s much-loved jam pennies, the red velvet cupcakes influenced by the House of Stuart or the chocolate biscuit cake, a favourite of Prince William and Prince Harry of the House of Windsor The Royal Afternoon Tea at the Rubens will leave you feeling like royalty.
The English Grill at The Rubens at the Palace is opulently designed with a rich royal theme of grandeur with polished silver, beautiful chandeliers and tailcoat waiters offering traditional service at its most welcoming. Experience the finest of dining with the addition of a glass wall which allows guests to catch some of the action taking place in the kitchen. Top quality cuts of meat will be grilled to perfection in the kitchen’s brand new charcoal-fired Josper grill.
Using the finest English produce and suppliers that serve the Queen’s kitchen, the dining experience is accompanied by an extensive wine list including a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our sister vineyard in South Africa.
The newly launched Curry Room at The Rubens serves an inspired three course menu created by Chef Arun Kumar. Working closely with Head Chef Kevin Joseph at our sister property, The Oyster Box Hotel in Durban, the menu celebrates authentic flavours made with the finest ingredients and exclusively imported spices from India.
The intimate and supremely comfortable setting of the restaurant incorporates Rajasthani hand embroidery and rich red colours which reflect the vibrant diversity of the dishes.
Our gourmet journey begins with keema samosa, poppadums, homemade lime pickle, apricot chutney, vegetable atchar and mint raita. A choice of mains includes traditional Natal lamb curry, butter chicken, tamarind fish curry and more. Complete the experience with a choice of deserts including Indian influenced Kuffi ice cream.
A wide selection of old and new world wine has been carefully selected to complement the dining experience, including a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our sister vineyard in South Africa. Popular Indian beer options include Kingfisher and Cobra.https://vimeo.com/209207391
