18 Fresh Beauty Buys For Spring

By Tamara Corin | 23rd March 2022

Spring is most definitely in the air – and with it brings a whole host of new beauty products to freshen up your look and elevate your mood for sunnier days ahead. Whether it’s a clever new skincare treat, a zesty scent or a brighter blush, there’s plenty of newness to choose from. Here, we’ve selected some of The Handbook beauty desk’s faves so far….

Nécessaire The Body Exfoliator Eucalyptus, £30

The nearest thing we’ve found to forest therapy indoors. With the zen-like scent of eucalyptus, this hardworking scrub sloughs away dry, dead skin effortlessly. Packed with charcoal pumice beads and glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids. The result? Smoother, softer skin from the neck down. There’s also a fragrance-free version too.

The Ordinary Multi-peptide Serum For Hair Density, £15.80

This is BIG news on the beauty scene. The award-winning skincare brand has expanded into haircare and already making noise as one of the best new haircare launches to date. Bringing all the benefits of skincare to hair, this formula contains two hero ingredients—hyaluronic acid and natural moisturising factors—to strengthen and combat dryness and damage to the moisture barrier.

Huda Beauty Cheeky Tint Blush Stick, £21

These buildable and moisturizing cheek cream sticks instantly melt into skin, glides like a dream and blends seamlessly into a dewy glossy colour that is far more subtle than the packaging suggests. Available in five creamy shades, that complement all skin tones.

Augustinus Bader The Ultimate Soothing Cream, £215

Everyone, yes, everyone, could do with upping their skin hydration levels at this time of the year, so it’s no surprise Prof. AB decided to launch this new super-gentle moisturiser now. Designed to support overstressed, dry, irritated, itchy, and uncomfortable skin with the unique signature formula that contains Trigger Factor Complex 8 (TFC8), which delivers nutrients to specific parts of your skin cells, guiding them to repair on their own. Worth saving up for!

Milk Makeup Bionic Glow, £26

The newest member of the Bionic crew is this liquid highlighter that is packed with hydrating benefits from hyaluronic acid, mushroom extract, and vegan collagen. The glow-boosting highlighter comes in two shades, Reality for a sun-kissed finish and Virtual for a natural look. Both hues give skin a filter-like glow that will leave your friends wondering why you look so damn good!

Kate Somerville, ExfoliKate Resurfacing Body Scrub, £48

It seems fitting that the iconic face scrub dubbed as the ‘Hollywood’s 2-minute facial’ finally has a body version. This dense, green-coloured exfoliator has a triple action formula (lactic & salicylic acid, fruit enzymes, and pumice) that leaves your limbs feeling soft, radiant and the perfect smooth base for fake tan.

Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum, £55

Do you really need another step in your skincare routine? The answer is a big fat YES! This is basically a powerful booster that gives your skin a hefty dose of hydration. Due to skin’s natural hydration cycle, moisture is constantly lost through the skin to the atmosphere, so by introducing this serum, you’re not just delivering hydration but also training your skin to rehydrate itself overtime. Genius!

M.A.C Stack Mascara, £26

This gives you all the drama with none of the clumps! With over two years in the making, this coats each lash without bunching it up, so you can reapply as often as you like without looking like a tarantula! But the best bit is it has two different brushes with the same formula. The MACStack Mega Mascara brush has longer bristles made for longer lashes, while the MACStack Micro Mascara brush is better suited for shorter or lower lashes. The choice is yours.

N°1 DE CHANEL Revitalizing Lip and Cheek Balm, £37

Part of a new diffusion line for Chanel that is environmental consciousness, so the product weight has been reduced, glass replaces other materials where possible, some jars are refillable, plastic use is limited, paper leaflets have been removed (as has cellophane) and organic inks have been used. Bravo Chanel! The standout product so far are these durable, multi-functional balms that come in the most wearable shades and give a gentle sheen rather than a high gloss to lips and cheeks.

Chanel's new lip and cheek balms are durable, multi-functional and come in the most wearable shades, giving you a gentle sheen rather than a high gloss.

Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum, £36

If this promises to make us look even just a teeny bit like the founder Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, then we’re certainly on board! This serum combines the powers of makeup and skincare that will get through spring. Essentially, it’s a luminous tinted serum—part moisturiser to offer hydration and part skin tint to offer the most beautiful radiant coverage. Your skin will literally glow from within.

Erborian CC Water, £39

This received a lot of wow’s when it recently landed on The Handbook’s beauty desk. This skin tint has a unique texture and colour that come outs clear with white gritty particles but as you work it into your skin, the beads disperse into a cream and the colour adjusts to your skin’s natural tone, with a dewy seamless finish. (It comes in three shades.) It’s the perfect base for that no-makeup-makeup look.

Jo Malone London Sea Daffodil Cologne, £112

What’s spring without a new lighter fragrance?  Ditch your heavier notes for something a little fresher and crisp such as this new Jo Malone scent. Created to replicate the fresh sea air of South Italy, this is spring in a bottle. Unlike your typical floral scent, this offering is your perfect transitional fragrance. White sea daffodils, vetiver and ylang-ylang are beautifully balanced by base notes of deep vanilla and sandalwood. We predict this to quickly become a best-seller.

Larry King Flyaway Kit, £19

Name me a woman who doesn’t need this in their life. Whatever your hair type, the more moisture and humidity in the air, the more flyaways and more frizz on your head. This dinky kit is your capsule hair styling wardrobe for the warmer days ahead. We guarantee you’ll need very little else to manage your hair this season.

Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette, £66

Imagine yourself sitting amongst the most incredible garden of flowers, times it by 10 and here you have an explosion of florals that are fresh, uplifting, romantic, fun, and sophisticated all at the same time. Developed to encapsulate the modern woman – authentic, courageous, diverse, and colourful, this certainly packs a punch that is true to its name.

Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Retinoid Eye Cream, £18

If you’re looking for a new-gen eye cream, Pacifica has developed this supercharged formula packed with a trio of hero ingredients, including retinoid, melatonin, and mushroom to help liven up the eye area while you catch some shut-eye.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, £19

Everyone is talking about this liquid blusher not just because it’s part of the new makeup range from Selena Gomez, but because it’s brilliant too. With a texture similar to a primer, this featherlight blush is highly pigmented and gives your skin a burst of natural-looking colour in seconds. You can also build it up for a stronger look. Surprisingly impressive,

Ren Clean Skincare Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir, £44

The concept of barrier repair is very much having a moment in beauty, and rightly so. With a little too much experimentation with a number of products, our skin barriers are no doubt a little worse for wear. Created with nine unique bio-actives and a blend of seven oils to aid repair and strengthen, if there is one thing you do for your skin barrier this spring, let it be applying this elixir.

CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Body Oil Cleanser, £12.50

If you love a good old lather in the shower, this budget-friendly oil body cleanser punches way above its weight. Super gentle, super hydrating, and super bubbly. It’s kind on sensitive skin and even baby and acne prone skin can benefit from the moisturising effect. It contains three essential ceramides, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid, that gives dry limbs a powerful dose of 24-hour hydration. And if you’re time-poor, it doubles up as a face cleanser too.
