There are two beauty products I refuse to compromise on: concealer and mascara. Specifically, waterproof mascara. Because while I love a dewy complexion and glossy lip as much as the next beauty editor, nothing ruins a look faster than panda eyes by 3pm.

How to remove waterproof mascara

Removing waterproof mascara can be a bit of a challenge, but with the right approach, you can protect your lashes and eye area. Here’s how:

  • Oil-based remover: Choose an oil-based makeup remover or micellar water formulated for waterproof makeup.
  • Cotton pads: Soak a cotton pad with the remover and gently press it against your closed eyes for about 30 seconds to break down the mascara.
  • Gentle wipe: Carefully wipe away the mascara without rubbing or tugging at your lashes. Repeat if necessary.
  • Cleanse: Follow with your regular facial cleanser to remove any residue. Or even better, double cleanse.
