Runway Highlights
The winter 2023 catwalk was swimming with country-inspired designs expertly intertwined with Burberry’s refined aesthetic. Think: faux fur-trimmed trenches teamed with jewel-toned checked kilts and leather saddle boots. Notably, the more practical components were offset with delicate details such as feather-embellished evening gowns, silk staples and shearling-lined heels – because, let’s not forget, this is Burberry.
While the collection saw head-to-toe printed and monochrome looks, one of the main takeaways for shoppers is that individual pieces can also be restyled with more pared-back winter ensembles featuring denim and leather.
The New It-Bag
Lee’s first Burberry bag takes shape in the slouchy Knight bag. Available in a spectrum of colourways, attention to detail is key. The fold-over design features adjustable straps, enabling the style to be worn cross-body or over the shoulder, and is fixed with a horse clip fastening – a nod to the brand’s equestrian logo. If you were in any doubt, the Knight has all the hallmarks of an It-bag.
Despite the rich sartorial offering, the standout from Lee’s debut collection was, arguably, the accessories.
Shoes, Glorious Shoes
As for footwear, reimagined shearling was the order of the day. Utilitarian walking boots and chunky suede mules made their way down the runway alongside delicate, open-toe sandals that would look right at home waltzing into a winter ball. In short, this collection covers all bases in style, from brisk winter strolls to intimate evening events.
