The secret to personal style is cherry-picking the things that jump out to you, and letting those that don’t simply pass you by. To that end, we’ve asked our fashion team of editors to share the spring trends they can’t wait to wear, and those they’ll be skipping.

Will: Bermuda shorts
I’m officially over wearing trousers, so the resurgence of Bermuda shorts right now is perfect timing. Offering a warm weather alternative to my go-to wide-leg office trousers, I’ve already invested in both denim and more structured styles for the coming months.
Won’t: Maximalism
If you can’t already tell, my fashion sense errs more on the minimalist side. While I really enjoy them on other people, loud prints and saturated colours don’t feel very ‘me’, even if they’re set to become a major trend this season.

Sheer doesn’t need to be scary or hugely revealing. My go-to going-out look is a sheer blouse with a silk cami underneath, tucked into something lowkey like light-wash denim, with heels. I like a high neck and a voluminous cuff sleeve to make things feel less undressed and more intentional.

I love an accessory that sparks a conversation, as brooches do, and they are a great way to work a trend with pre-loved, vintage, or a good charity shop rummage. I also love that they are making their way into menswear too – pretty much every man on the Oscars red carpet was wearing one. So chic.
Won’t: Balloon trousers
I like a bit of structure to my trousers – it supports my unwavering love of a loafer. While I like the idea of the nonchalant, boho vibe of a balloon pant, in reality, it just screams “gap year” to me.

Thanks to its catwalk seal of approval – spotted at Balenciaga, Dior and Celine – this relatively simple coord is looking hot for right now. Pairing straight-leg jeans with a bomber, funnel-neck jacket, or oversized blazer not only elevates the most comfortable piece in your wardrobe but also looks instantly sleek, cool, and effortless.
Will: Boilersuit
For a while, my go-to seemed to disappear from the sartorial landscape. But now it has returned in all its practical yet chic glory, thanks to the likes of Prada and Armani. The boiler suit is your one-and-done. It works with trainers but looks sexy as hell when teamed with heels.
Won’t: Sheer
While I can appreciate the beauty of see-through fashion on others, I’m just not up for it. The idea of showing up to an event wearing a naked dress is the stuff of nightmares – especially if said event is school-related. My girls would never speak to me again.

As someone who cycles around London in the rain most days, fluffy shoes just aren’t practical for my lifestyle. I have a feeling they’d go from chic to very soggy-looking within a matter of days.
