New balls please, it’s Wimbledon again. But rather than joining a queue that stretches to Morden and back, or desperately trying to break through a human wall twenty bodies thick at an SW19 bar, then here are some ideas for you that will be far more sophisticated and enjoyable.

Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar

Free Flowing Pimms

Wimbledon isn’t Wimbledon without Pimm’s so Gillray’s is letting you swap the bottomless G&Ts in the G&T afternoon tea for free-flowing Pimm’s. Either tuck into a free flowing afternoon tea or strawberries and cream. Go steady though, we all know how deceptive that fruit-filled delight is.

Where: Gillray's Steakhouse & Bar, Westminster Bridge Road, London, United Kingdom
Nearest station: London Waterloo (0.3 miles)

South Place Hotel

Retractable Roof!

South Place Hotel, a boutique hotel tucked away in East London, have got some fun in store in their Secret Garden bar. Along with screenings of the big games, of course, they’ll be serving their Sipsmith summer cocktail served with Eton mess and Joe & Sephs strawberry and cream popcorn. Pull up a deckchair and relax under the Secret Garden’s retractable roof, just like at Centre Court.

Nearest station: Moorgate (Great Northern) (0.2 miles)

InterContinental London Park Lane

Ginger Ninja

The Intercontinental have combined two of the orangest spirits available, Pimms and Aperol, to create a positively Weasley-level of orange drink. They’ve produced the ‘Deuce Spritz’, which is paired with a chocolate delight they’ve called the ‘Ace dessert’. Deuce Spritz combines Pimms, Brockmans gin, Aperol, cherry bitters, cucumber and watermelon soda. Ace dessert includes a dark chocolate sphere, shaped like a tennis ball, accompanied with a light pistachio dry sponge, vanilla cream, raspberry sauce and strawberries.

Sofitel London St James

Cheers, Remi!

The Petersham

Just Down The A3

The Petersham basks in the tranquillity of Richmond, but in reality it’s only a (admittedly long) stone’s throw from SW19, and makes the perfect escape from all the silliness up in Wimbledon village. Not least because they’re putting on a special Wimbledon Afternoon Tea for the tennis. A quintessential Afternoon Tea with a twist, it’s the latest offering from Head Chef Jean-Didier Gouges and includes Pimm’s jelly and cucumber foam, mini mango ‘tennis ball’ cheesecakes and white chocolate and strawberry tartlets. There will also be a classic selection of finger sandwiches; scones and patisserie including Petersham Victoria sponge, Opera, and fruit cake and, of course, a selection of teas and fizzes.
Available from Monday 2nd July – Sunday 15th July

Where: The Petersham Hotel, Nightingale Lane, Richmond, TW10 6UZ
Nearest station: Richmond (0.8 miles)

The Jones Family Kitchen

A Paw-fect Pimms

The Jones Family Kitchen have proved the recipes used for their tasty cocktails aren’t secrets kept in the family. Introducing the Pimm’s Sbagliato, their Wimbledon special that will feature Pimm’s, Campari, Luxardo, Maraschino, Prosecco and orange bitters. Who’s the lovely looking chap in the picture you ask? Well, he’s Nike – a rescue Akita that attends bring your dog to work day a great deal at Central Working next door. He just couldn’t help but get involved…but then again we can’t blame him if this drink is anything to go by.

The Dorchester

You Might Not Win But You Can Eat

The Promenade at The Dorchester will be celebrating Wimbledon once more with their Wimbledon inspired afternoon tea. Alongside Pimm’s cocktails you’ll find strawberries and cream and cakes inspired by the tennis, because we might not win a Grand Slam but we can eat a Wimbledon tennis sponge made from a lemon verbena, strawberries, white chocolate and cream ganache.

Where: 53 Park Lane, Park Lane, W1K 1QA UK

Bottomless Pimms

Skylon’s brunch already is pretty indulgent with the likes of boiled eggs with lobster, truffle and caviar toast and French toast with crispy bacon and sticky syrup on the menu but now they are adding in bottomless Pimm’s and serving up tennis themed cocktails including the Service Ace, just for that extra decadence. So, you can get a little tispy and cheer on Murray and Konta, Pimm’s in hand.

Aqua Shard

All About Strawberries and Cream

Is it even Wimbledon if you don’t have strawberries and cream? No, it’s not. Which is why aqua shard is putting them at the centre of the Wimbledon celebrations. There’s a Wimbledon cocktail made from Pimm’s, white chocolate liqueur, strawberry compote and topped with lemonade and to go with it a pudding made from strawberry pavlova, Champagne sorbet, strawberries and oat crumble.
