41 Ways to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in London

2016 has been, if nothing else, eventful. A bit of a roller coaster one might say. Whether you’ve been at the top or the bottom of that roller coaster, there is only one thing for it this NewYear’s Eve. Pick up a glass of Champagne, get your party hat on and say goodbye 2016, hello 2017…

Menus:

Bronte 

Bronte will be offering two sittings for their New Year’s Eve menu – one at 6pm which is ideal if you have children and one starting at 9pm which is just for the adults and is when the DJ will be taking to the decks. Dishes include lobster and crab dumpings with lemongrass bisque, lamb chops with chilli and honey glazed and smoked aubergine and a whole trio of puddings. Tuttons

Start your evening at Tuttons with cocktails in the bar before heading on to the restaurant which overlooks Covent Garden’s piazza. They’ll be serving a set three course menu which comes with a glass of Prosecco and includes the likes of potted ham hock, pan fried whole lemon sole with Parmentier potatoes and charred asparagus and Champagne poached pear with almond and dark chocolate Chantilly cream and sugar snaps. Percy & Founders

Whether you’re looking to see in 2017 with an intimate dinner or you’re looking to bring the whole gang together then Percy & Founders is the place to go. They’ll be serving up a three course menu which includes dry-age sirloin, braised ox-cheek croquette, swede mash, toasted almonds and cranberry jus; seared cod with mussels and clam stew and caramelised banana with granola and salted caramel ice-cream. www.percyandfounders.co.uk

The Arch London will be serving an extravagant four-course New Year’s Eve menu. Mint Leaf Haymarket 

Head Chef Rajinder Pandey has created the perfect New Year’s Eve menu at Mint Leaf Haymarket, whether you want to dine early and head off to a party or want to stay most of the evening – they’ll be offering both an early bird and gala dinner menu. The Lighterman 

The Lighterman are starting off their celebrations early with their New Year’s Eve brunch – a chance to line the stomach before the celebrations the night ahead. The Rib Room

The Rib Room are serving not a three-course, not a four-course but a five-course feast – well it’s the last time to stock up before the January detoxes. Dishes include seared Orkney scallops, Jabugo ham, shaved hazelnut and sweetcorn velouté; Loch Duart salmon en croute, roasted langoustine tails, butternut squash, puree caviar and Champagne chowder and puddings include a selection of mini Rib Room chocolate desserts with Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and Champagne at midnight. www.theribroom.co.uk

MeatUp  

Having opened in 2016, this is MeatUp’s first New Year’s Eve and they’ll be celebrating with live music, DJs, plenty of cocktails and a four-course menu of ribs, steaks and their Surf’n’Turf platter, puddings include brownies and lemon curd cheesecake and you can make the most of the night with their bottomless drinks. Shepherd’s of Westminster 

Shepherd’s of Westminster are celebrating New Year’s Eve with a menu that features dishes such as Swaledale game terrine, Cornish halibut with roast cauliflower and langoustine and buttermilk and honey jelly with poached quince and almond biscuit. Restaurant Ours

2016 was the year that saw Tom Sellers open his second London restaurant, Restaurant Ours and they’ll be celebrating making it to the end of the year with a menu that includes the likes of salted cod; seabass, butternut squash and truffle pesto and clementine soufflé with hazelnut ice cream. Medieval Banquet

You know one word that we always like the sound of? It’s banquet. Everyone loves a banquet. Ivory House certainly do as they are hosting their medieval banquet to welcome in 2017. As well as Champagne at midnight and six courses including smoked salmon and lobster terrine, Champagne and pomegranate sorbet, roast fillet of angus beef and a trio of chocolate mousses there is unlimited wine and ale served with dinner. Sanderson

We can’t all live in penthouses but we can see in 2017 in one. Sanderson is hosting the ‘Ultimate NYE Penthouse Party’ where guests can rent out the entire penthouse for 20 friends – food, booze, entertainment it’s all taken care of. Want to party on the ground? Tom’s Kitchen

Head out onto the water this New Year’s Eve. After a 3-course dinner at Tom’s Kitchen St Katharine Docks, diners will be given a 30-minute speedboat ride on the Thames, down to the O2 and back before cruising down past the lights and watching the fireworks from the water. Want to stay on dry land? The Balcon

End the year with a decadent feast, at The Balcon you’ll find the likes of Portland oysters with lobster butter and Champagne sabayon, roast halibut, confit duck leg and Champagne poached pear mousse. Gillray’s

As far as New Year Eves go then eating the likes of chicken and foie gras terrine, king crab, sea bass, beef fillet, hazelnut praline sponge and a cheese board whilst listening to a five piece live band and then heading outside to watch the fireworks sounds like a pretty good night to us. www.gillrays.com

Cubitt House

Celebrate the end of 2016 and everything that is to come in 2017 with a glass of Champagne and supper at The Thomas Cubitt, The Orange or The Grazing Goat. Min Jiang

Finish the year at Min Jiang, the Royal Garden Hotel’s restaurant. They’ll be serving up eight courses of traditional Chinese dishes, including their signature steamed dim sum. Guests can also order their legendary Beijing Duck, which is prepared according to an ancient recipe, on top of all those eight dishes, if particularly hungry! Indulge in a 5-course northern Chinese dinner at Hutong, on the 33rd floor of The Shard, for a menu of crisp soft shell crab, steamed lobster and truffle dumpling and wok-tossed Wagyu beef and asparagus. Drake & Morgan

Want to be near the Thames but fancy something a little more casual? Aqua Shard

Watch the fireworks from new heights at Aqua Shard. The evening will begin with a 5-course meal (roasted halibut, grilled beef fillet and dark chocolate mousse) and half a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne with The Spinettes entertaining guests in the atrium from 9pm until midnight. Hackney House

London based music collective TwoSixtySix will be taking over the decks at Hackney House playing the best in hip hop, bass, underground as well as all the classics through to 4am. It will be a party to remember. www.hackneyhouse.com

Aviary

Aviary is London’s latest rooftop restaurant and terrace bar to open, you’ll find them on Finsbury Park and they are celebrating their first New Year’s Eve witha  four course meal, Champagne and then partying on until the early hours. Sounds like a winner to us. www.aviarylondon.com

Smith & Wollensky

Smith & Wollensky are bringing Las Vegas to London with their Frank and Dean’s NYE Party. They’ll be playing all the hits from the Rat Pack, whilst a decadent three course dinner is served. South Place Hotel

South Place Hotel are turning their first floor into a three-room party as they present A Party With Us, 12inch and Nixwax. Hippodrome Casino

Hippodrome Casino’s New Year’s Eve will look a little like this: entertainment from The Definite Rat Pack, a three course meal which includes USDA steak and an assiette of puddings; pop-up performances throughout the casino, a balloon drop and the firework display screened live. Dirty Martini are coming over all mysterious on us as they host masquerade parties at their eight venues. If you cant get to the slopes then Bodo’s Schloss is your next best bet.
