And if you really want to crank the romance up a notch, book into one of London’s most romantic hotels to round off a perfect night.

Gaucho

From 13–15 February, Gaucho is adding a limited-edition Valentine’s trio across its UK restaurants.

The headline is GAUCHO Hearts, a dessert for two layered with dulce de leche, vanilla mousse, raspberry and strawberry. Drinks follow suit with Cupid’s Crush — Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin, Chambord and mixed berries — plus a non-alcoholic Cygnet Infinity with strawberry, cherry, blackberry, lemon and orgeat.

Sweet, playful, and made for sharing after steak.

Bacchanalia

Bacchanalia doesn’t do subtle, which is exactly why it works for a certain kind of Valentine’s. Set inside a maximalist temple of marble, myth and candlelight, it’s dinner as spectacle — theatrical, indulgent, and knowingly over the top. For Valentine’s weekend, Apollo’s Muse takes over with live music, a charged atmosphere, and menus built for lingering. Come here when you want romance dialled up, not toned down.

Where: 1-3 Mount St, London W1K 3NB
Website: www.bacchanalia.co.uk

Theo Randall Cucina Italiana

Theo Randall’s dining room is a safe pair of hands for Valentine’s: warm, elegant, and quietly romantic without leaning on theatrics. Set inside the InterContinental Park Lane, it’s the kind of place built for lingering rather than rushing.

On Valentine’s Day, couples can book a dedicated £85pp menu — handmade truffle ravioli, Lake District lamb, and a dolci platter to share — with optional sommelier-led wine pairings if you want to lean in.

Where: Park Ln, London W1J 7QY

Cafe Ciel

If you want something lighter than a set-menu marathon, Café Ciel is a good-looking slip of a place in The OWO’s Grand Courtyard — daytime pastries and brunch energy, then cocktails and small plates once the light drops. It’s more “meet for a drink that turns into snacks” than a formal dinner, which can be exactly right for a bit of a date afternoon.

Where: The OWO, 7 Horse Guards Ave, London SW1A 2EU
Website: www.cafeciel.co.uk

Cafe Ciel really does offer something different, based in the grounds of The OWO – the restaurant has a magical pink cloud pop-up surrounding the building for Valentines Day. Its an intimate restaurant with fab brunch food to kick off the day.

Elle, Senior Venue Partnerships Manager

Straits Kitchen at Pan Pacific

Straits Kitchen is doing a five-course Valentine’s menu (£79pp), with a glass of Taittinger to start and a very specific kind of luxury to follow: parsnip laksa velouté, Orkney scallop, beetroot-cured salmon gravlax, then dry-aged sirloin with soy-glazed rib, mac and cheese and truffle jus. Dessert lands in mousse territory, sharpened with strawberry-vanilla consommé and pine nut brittle.

Where: 80 Houndsditch, London EC3A 7AB
Website: www.panpacific.com

STK

STK is for couples who like dinner with a pulse. Low lighting, a DJ in the mix, and the kind of menu that leans hard into prime steak and seafood, with cocktails doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Go early if you’re heading West End way; stay late if you’re not.

TOKii

Hidden within The Prince Akatoki Hotel, TOKii gets romance points for a Japanese master-chef energy, a la carte or omakase, and low light ambient interiors. If you want your date to feel like an activity (without going full novelty), the sushi masterclass turns dinner into an experience you do together.

Lilli By Akira Black

Tucked inside Montcalm Mayfair, Lilli leans into low-lit hotel glamour with emerald-and-gold tones, plushness, and a menu that stitches together Korean inspiration, Japanese precision and seasonal British produce. Start with the signatures (Tuna Pizza; Yellowtail Serrano; Wagyu tartare with caviar), then keep it moving through the bigger plates and a clean, citrusy dessert like burnt pineapple with yuzu-kalamansi sorbet.

Where: 2 Wallenberg Pl, London W1H 7TN
Website: www.montcalmcollection.com

Frog by Adam Handling

Frog is a smart pick when you want something that feels like a real Michelin style treat, not just a meal: a tight, central room, playful cooking, and the option to disappear downstairs into Eve Bar afterwards. This is tasting-menu territory, but inventive, and built for couples who’d rather do cocktails after than roses before.

Where: 34-35 Southampton St, London WC2E 7HG
Website: www.frogbyadamhandling.com

One of the most lux reservations in London without any over-the-top antics. Just good food.

The Lighterman

The Lighterman is the perfect Valentine’s date: canalside, relaxed, and open from 10am so you can do brunch, a long lunch, or a candlelit dinner without making it complicated. If you want to mark the moment, pre-order the crémant or champagne and let the rest take care of itself.

Michael Caines at The Stafford

For Valentine’s, Michael Caines at The Stafford is running both lunch and dinner across 13–14 February, with a strawberry mousse and yuzu dessert built in. Lunch is three courses (£85pp), dinner is a five-course tasting menu (£145pp), and both include rosé on the table.

WHere: 16-18 St James’s Pl, London SW1A 1NJ
Website: www.thestaffordlondon.com

The Franklin Restaurant

A Knightsbridge “hidden gem” that actually earns the description: softly lit, Italian-leaning, and properly intimate. Valentine’s is a three-course set (13–14 February) that starts with a glass of NV Ettore Germano Rosanna Rosé, then moves through Fassona beef tartare with black truffle, Champagne risotto, and yakiniku roasted beef fillet — with the bar waiting afterwards if you want to stretch the night.

Where: 24 Egerton Gardens, London SW3 2DB
Website: www.collexione.starhotels.com

Indigo at One Aldwych

Indigo is the move if you want something calm in the middle of Covent Garden, with cooking that cares about sourcing without turning dinner into a sermon. The entire menu is gluten- and dairy-free, but you wouldn’t know it from the way it eats — clean, thoughtful, and confident (with no bloating).

Where: 1 Aldwych, London WC2B 4BZ
Website: www.onealdwych.com

CORD

CORD is a good antidote to February’s heart-shaped everything: dim lights, candles on every table, and the Fleet Street hum outside. This month’s menu is pitched at refined, lighter dishes — think otoro with beef consommé and Oscietra caviar, or Scottish langoustine dumpling in spiced coconut broth — for people who find romance in trying something you’ve never had before.

Where: 85 Fleet St, London EC4Y 1AE
Website: www.cordrestaurant.co.uk

Coppa Club

If your ideal Valentine’s involves the Thames and a bit of privacy, book one of Coppa Club’s igloos: you get your own little bubble with the river right there. They’re doing a dedicated Valentine’s menu too — worth it for the setting alone when Tower Bridge is shining down on the terrace.

WHere: 3 Lower Thames St, London EC3R 6AH
Website: www.coppaclub.co.uk

Tavolino

Tavolino is an easy yes when you want Italian food with a view — the room looks straight out at Tower Bridge, which is frankly unfair on every other date spot. They’ve got a Valentine’s menu ready to go, plus candlelight and a very river-side calm.

Where: 2 More London Pl, London SE1 2JP
Website: www.tavolino.co.uk

The Italian Greyhound

Marylebone’s Italian Greyhound is for couples who want to eat well without feeling pinned to a “Valentine’s experience”. Start with the snacky bits — chickpea chips, porcini-and-gorgonzola arancini, burrata with fig and walnut pesto — then go classic with chicken Milanese or lean into pasta (lamb ragu tagliatelle; crab linguine). Finish with pistachio tiramisu or limoncello cake, then walk it off back towards Marylebone High Street.

Where: 62 Seymour St, London W1H 5BN
Website: www.theitaliangreyhound.co.uk

The Lanesborough Grill

Dinner under The Lanesborough’s glass dome is already doing half the job for you. The cooking is classic-leaning and luxurious — coronation crab and veal tartare up front; a Hereford beef Wellington designed for sharing and carved tableside; then desserts like apple-and-blackberry crumble soufflé, or the cheese trolley if you’re that way inclined. Finish in the Library Bar’s Love Nook for cocktails in a properly secluded corner.

Where: Hyde Park Corner, London SW1X 7TA
Website: www.oetkerhotels.com

Brasserie Constance at Fulham Pier

A brasserie on the Thames at Fulham Pier, with a menu built around sharing — oysters, lobster vol-au-vent, sirloin, then a Baked Alaska. It’s the kind of place where you can make a whole evening out of “one more glass” and a few more picky bits.

Where: Level 1, Fulham Pier, Stevenage Rd, London SW6 6HH
Website: www.brasserieconstance.com

Chotto Matte

Chotto Matte is a loud, glossy choice for couples who like a bit of mischief with dinner. For Valentine’s they’re running exclusives across 13–14 February — plus a Happy Endings soft-serve situation (vanilla with truffled honey and crispy bacon), alongside oysters, beef carpaccio, and two limited cocktails (Spicy Beso; Highland Blush).

Where: 11, 13 Frith St, London W1D 4RB
Website: www.chotto-matte.com

Sam’s Riverside

Sam’s Riverside makes for a beautifully romantic restaurant, boasting unrivalled views of the Thames and effortlessly elegant interiors. Book at dusk and let the river and Hammersmith Bridge set the tone, then settle into oysters, seafood and steaks with a good bottle with no over-the-top theatre.

Where: 1 Crisp Rd, London W6 9DN
Website: www.samsriverside.co.uk

CERU

CERU is one of those places that makes sharing feel natural: Eastern Mediterranean plates, lots of colour, plenty of things you can tear, scoop and pass across the table. For a Valentine’s that doesn’t want to be too serious, it’s an easy, generous kind of dinner — good with wine, even better with a second order of pita.

Lutyens Grill

Inside The Ned — the hotel built within the old Midland Bank — Lutyens Grill feels like a night out in a city that actually knows how to make a room feel intimate. It’s tucked away from the bustle, with warm lighting and an energetic buzz. The cooking leans into classics done well: grilled fish and prime cuts paired with an extensive wine list.

Searcy’s at St Pancras

There are few more overtly “London” date settings than St Pancras: a brasserie perched above the station, vintage clocks, and the longest Champagne bar in Europe if you want to lean into the occasion. This is a good one for pre-train romance, or for making a weekday evening feel like you’ve gone somewhere.

Where: St. Pancras, St Pancras International Station, London N1C 4QL
Website: www.stpancrasbysearcys.co.uk

J. Sheekey

J. Sheekey is doing Valentine’s in its own language: seafood, martini energy, and a room that feels like it’s been waiting for you. The three-course set is £85pp (from 5pm on 13 Feb; all day 14 Feb), starting with Sheekey starters to share (mixed sashimi; Galician octopus), then a roasted shellfish platter, then dark chocolate and passionfruit Paris-Brest — plus a mini Espresso Martini and truffles to take away.

WHere: 28-32 St Martin’s Ct, London WC2N 4AL
Website: www.j-sheekey.co.uk

Balthazar

Balthazar is going full Paris fantasy for the weekend, with a £49pp three-course set running from 7pm on 13 Feb, then 14–15 Feb from midday. Expect the greatest hits (baked camembert with truffled honey; gravadlax), a surf-and-turf main built around côte de bœuf and prawns, and a sharing dessert with a mini Espresso Martini.

Where: 4-6 Russell St, London WC2B 5HZ

I love the London outpost of this iconic New York brasserie. It’s perfect located for pre/post theatre and the cosy booth seating is on point for people watching while canoodling.

Robyn, Managing Director

34 Mayfair

34 Mayfair does Valentine’s like it means it: floral dressing, candlelight, and a set menu served in the middle of all that Mayfair gloss. The restaurant’s “in bloom” across 2–16 February, with a dedicated Valentine’s set menu in play on 13–14 February from 5pm (£85pp).

Where: 34 Grosvenor Sq, S Audley St, London W1K 2HD
Website: www.34-restaurant.co.uk

Vori

Vori is an intimate little Greek taverna on Holland Park Avenue — candles, wood panelling, and a room that suits a slower dinner. It’s more about warmth than spectacle, which is often the better move. Plus, Greek is always a good idea. And what’s more romantic than a taverna?

Where: 120 Holland Park Ave, London W11 4UA
Website: www.vorigreekitchen.co.uk

Oui Madame

Oui Madame is for people who want to eat well without performing romance at each other. Candlelit, softly buzzing, small tables — and for Valentine’s Week they’re running a £95 set for two designed for sharing, taken at a slow pace (10–14 Feb).

Where: 290 St Paul’s Rd, London N1 2LH
Website: www.ouimadame-restaurant.co.uk

Mosaic

Mosaic is the kind of hotel restaurant that doesn’t feel like a hotel restaurant: calm, grown-up, and useful if you want a date that starts with dinner and drifts into drinks without changing postcode. It runs all day, and the room faces the city — good for a low-pressure Valentine’s that can stay flexible.

Where: 60 Upper Thames St., London EC4V 3AD
Website: www.marriott.com

NoMad

NoMad’s Valentine’s is a two-parter: dinner in Twenty8 (lush, palm-filled, New York-meets-brasserie) then a booth at Side Hustle when you’re not ready to go home. The four-course set menu is £95, with oysters Rockefeller, braised short rib with bone marrow and truffle, saffron risotto with langoustine, and a share-sized profiterole situation for dessert.

Where: 28 Bow St, London WC2E 7AW
Website: www.hilton.com

Ormer

Ormer is Mayfair at its quietest: precise service, considered cooking, and a dining room that’s built for soft whispers over tables for two. On 14 February, they’re doing a rare lunchtime sitting (12:30pm, £100pp) — useful if you want the polish without committing your entire evening.

Where: Central, 25 Sheldon Square, London W2 6EY
Website: www.ayllu.co.uk

Lucky Cat Mayfair

Lucky Cat is built for late-night plotting: dark corners, graphic screens, cocktails that arrive with intent. For Valentine’s there’s a £150 set menu designed for sharing, or you can go à la carte and keep it loose.

One of my favourite spots for high-end Asian cuisine. My top picks include the tuna tataki, sweet and sour prawns and wagyu gyoza

Harriet, Head Of Partnerships

The Churchill Bar & Terrace

For a Valentine’s that’s mostly about the drinking: The Churchill is art-deco, intimate, and lined with love letters between Winston and Clementine. It’s a good place to start the night — or end it — when dinner isn’t the main event.

Where: 30 Portman Square, London W1H 7BH
Website: www.hyattrestaurants.com

The Parlour at Great Scotland Yard Hotel

The Parlour is selling secrecy — leather, dark wood, heavy-door energy — and for February it’s pushing a steak-for-two moment: bubbles on arrival, oysters, then a wagyu tomahawk with the trimmings. This one’s for couples who want to disappear for a few hours and come out looking slightly guilty.

Where: 3-5 Great Scotland Yard, London SW1A 2HN
Website: www.hyattrestaurants.com

Dear Jackie

Down in the basement of Broadwick Soho, Dear Jackie is built for a Soho date that wants a bit of theatre: red silk, Murano glow, booths that keep you tucked away from the rest of the room. The Valentine’s pitch is properly share-first — reworked Italian classics, including an aged Hereford côte de bœuf for two — before it finishes on a 70% dark chocolate mousse with pistachio praline and salted cream.
