Halloween; it’s the first word of most of our lips come October 1st, as we prowl the shops and world wide web looking for costumes that are going to rake in those likes. However, we’re here to shout about a whole lot more than just the ghost and ghoul filled day, as October sees pop-ups galore across the city. From drinking cocktails Parisienne-style on Queen of Hoxton’s roof, to a wine dinners and Cuban nights, we’ve got your back Londoners, we’ve got your back…

A good old fashion wine and dine

Courtesy of Smith and Wollensky, Joseph Phelps is going to wine and dine you into winter with a delightful little wine dinner on the 10th of October. You’ll sip on Jospeh Phelps wines whilst being educated by connoisseur Robert Baxter, alongside a three-course menu plus canapés. So, if you need to add a little sophistication in your life, this one is for you.

Brand Ambassador, Giampietro Tinazzo is welcomed to Palatino on Tuesday 9th October as they host a 4 course wine dinner showcasing the Allegrini family estate. Stevie and Rich have written a menu that allows the wines to shine, with four wines being enjoyed throughout the night. The dinner menu includes dishes such as fried artichokes, risotto Amazon and tiramisu, and we can’t wait!

Havana na, na, na...

It’s the place Camila Cabello left half of her heart…na, na, na. And now, Havana is coming to Tobacco Dock for Last Nights of Havana; the pop-up launch that will see distinctive tastes, sounds and spirit of pre-revolution Cuba to Tobacco Dock with the launch of Last Nights Of Havana – a celebration of rum, jazz, dance and decadence. The pop-up comes as a result of Meanwhile Events’ genius, and will include Cuban-born Musical Director Oreste `Sambroso’ Noda leading the nightly band.

Avenue Cookery School

Sushi in the city

A fun, hands-on sushi-making class with bottomless booze for a night of relaxed sushi mastery. The class will kick off with an exciting demonstration, running through how to prepare ingredients and make different types of tasty sushi rolls from cooking the sushi rice, and preparing the filling to making Japanese mayo and mastering those all-important sushi rolling skills. Once the demonstration is over, guests will be able to sit back, relax and eat both bottomless sushi and drink bottomless wine.

Baby get sheekey after school

Celebrating it’s 10th anniversary, J Sheekey has announced its second season of its guest chef series, this time hosting some of the most celebrated food writers and chefs in the UK, accompanied by Executive Head Chef Andrew McLay to create a one-off menu for up to 50 guests. Each chef will also give a rare insight into their respective approaches and methods, as they discuss their philosophies with diners after the meal. Plymouth Gin will return to serve cocktails as well. TV actress and chef Lisa Faulkner will host the third event, Lisa’s cookery skills are highly sought after for live demonstrations at food events including BBC Good Food, The Cake & Bake Show and the Ideal Home Show.

The Luna Cinema

Spooky Cinema

The Luna Cinema is partnering with the Natural History Museum to bring a pop-up cinema this autumn. The pop up event will occur over two nights of classic Halloween films just days shy away from the 31st. Screening in the Hintze Hall, viewers will be screaming underneath the iconic 25-metre skeleton of ‘Hope’ the blue whale suspended in the air. With two screenings each night, viewers would get the option to choose between The Blair Witch Project or Silence of the Lambs and either Ghostbusters or The Shining with a complimentary bag of popcorn in hand.

Yet more wining

Hosted by mindfulness trainer, Andy Hix from Wellbeing Capital Partners and wine communicator, Emma Roberts from Eviva Communications, this fun and experiential event will help you learn to taste wine like the professionals and become more wine confident, apply the principles of mindfulness to your daily life and learn to really savour everything you eat and drink, and to be in control of your wine consumption rather than it controlling you.

The event is open to all, no matter what your previous mindfulness or wine tasting experience.
