Royal Wedding Special: Remind Me Who Actually IS Princess Eugenie?
Unlike when Kate and Wills, or Megan and Harry tied the knot, Princess Eugenie’s wedding day has been somewhat less of a royal hoo-ha; which is a breath of fresh heir if you ask us! However if you do like a good old royal wedding, you’ll be eager to learn that this Friday (12th) marks the big day as the Queen’s granddaughter weds Jack Brooksbank. So to royally flush you out, we thought we’d tell you some facts about Princess Eugenie, probably needed seeing as a Google of her name continuously conjures up images of her and her sister Beatrice, but rarely one of her on her own. What doesn’t help is the fact that they look verging on identically similar, unhealed by the fact that Eugenie has just dyed her hair ginger too ahead of the big day – hopefully Brooksbank won’t get confused!
She'll Finally Get To Wear A Tiara
Ever wondered why Princess Beatrice and Eugenie are never seen in glitzy tiara’s (and instead outlandish hats?) Well, Ladies and Gents, that’s because they have to be wed first. Luckily for Eugenie the big day is tomorrow so she’ll finally be able to wear some head-glam, for Beatrice however we eagerly await the next look… #hatgoals.
Who's Her Beau?
“We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24, and fell in love,” Eugenie said of her soon-to-be husband in an interview with the BBC. “We have the same passions and drive for life. It’s so nice that we get to share this moment with everyone, and you get to meet Jack.” Jack Brooksbank is now 32 having celebrated his birthday back in May, and he is the son of an account as well as having descended from the Brooksbank baronets, according to the Telegraph. A baronet is a title just below baron! However despite being of somewhat royal descent like Eugenie, the couple led different lives up until then, with Jack having eschewed university to go straight into the hospitality field. At one point he managed the popular London nightclub Mahiki, and is currently the UK ambassador for George Clooney and Rande Gerber’s tequila brand, Casamigos. Sounds like Harry’s got a party play-pal!
The pair will wed at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, which is where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot five months ago.
No Plastics Allowed
Eugenie has revealed that her wedding will be entirely plastic free (and yes we’re talking about the substance as opposed to anything, or anyone, else). The princess and her husband-to-be are keen for their impending nuptials to reflect their views on sustainability, upholding their home tradition of a no plastic allowed household. We take our hat off to that!
Camilla Bowles Out Of The Wedding
Camilla Parker-Bowles won’t be attending the wedding! The Duchess of Cornwall is supposedly off to visit schoolchildren in Scotland and doesn’t want to let them down, which is sweet – however there are a bunch of other reasons circulating (as is the norm). It’s not listed on the royal family’s website and rumours have spread that she’s actually off hosting a shooting party. Who knows eh? But maybe she’s taking a shot at Euginie’s mum, Sarah Ferguson. Either way, Camilla won’t be at her niece’s nuptials
Eugenie and Kate Middleton Are School Pals
Keeping in the family, as the Royals so love to do, Princess Eugenie and Kate Middleton have more than just the royal family in common; having attended the same school. Princess Eugenie attended Upton House School in Windsor before moving to Marlborough College. Kate Middleton attended the same school.
She's The Queen's Third Youngest Grandchild
Despite being the Queen’s third youngest grandchild, Eugenie doesn’t really see much light of day when it comes to the press, instead hiding under away from the spotlight (and under gargantuan hats), plus she doesn’t carry out public duties. She is, however, the daughter of Prince Andrew, allegedly the favourite son of the Queen! (allegedly the fave, not allegedly the son, now that would be a scandal!)
She Dons A Good Hat
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice have often been subject to a chortle here and there – flashback to the 2011 royal wedding and the donning of some absolutely outlandish hats – the words ‘wardrobe’ and ‘faux-pas’ come to mind. However Eugenie, despite being pictured above wearing something that can only resemble a lily pad, hasn’t had wardrobe malfunctions to the same degree as sister Beatrice, whose 2011 hat has been turned into many a meme, inclusive of the hobbit wearing it…
We’ve got out fingers crossed that tomorrow’s Royal Wedding doesn’t make the wardrobe failures a hat-trick in the head gear department.
She's Getting Married On A Friday
Getting married on a Friday: like, who does that? Sure, if you’re tight on the old Benjamins you might try and eek down the cost of putting on a spread over a weekend, but this is the royal family. The actual royal family. The richest people in the world. Her granny’s face is on the all cash she’s putting down here, so why the Saturday? Think of all the poor guests, taking a day off work (okay, we suspect most of them don’t really ‘work’, but still), schlepping down on the Thursday night and so on. What a faff. Still, each to their own.
Either way, best of luck tomorrow to the future Mrs Brooksbanks from The Handbook!
