Shrove Tuesday, a.k.a Pancake Day, a.k.a the best day EVER, is happening on the 5th of March and we’re all a fluster with excitement. It’s the day that sees people all over attempt the pancake flip in vain and others making the hard life choice of sugar and lemon or something far more extravagant. Either way, there are some flippin’ delicious pancakes on offer across London, from ones doused in matcha to man vs. pancake challenges to the much-adored classics, you batter get your pancake game on at these places:

Sanderson Hotel

The Restaurant at Sanderson knows that sometimes less really is more as they keep things oh, so classic this Shrove Tuesday. All day they will be running a live crêpe station – now there are three words we’ve always dreamed of hearing – featuring pancakes with lemon and sugar. Delicious!

We’ve all heard the saying “go hard or go home,” and, in this context, it turns out Smith & Wollensky will be doing anything but go home this Pancake Day, creating their biggest ever pancake stack that’s got us salivating. The steak restaurant will be holding a Man vs Pancake challenge which doesn’t sound like too mean a feat! If you manage to combat the pancakes in all of their gloopy goodness then you walk away for free but you’ve got to do it under an hour (and not be sick, of course). So, for one day and one day only fill your boots and bellies with pancakes – good luck!

When you’re a house called Where The Pancakes Are, it’s safe to say you’re going to produce some absolute whoppers come the big day. This year, they will be extending their opening hours too 7am to midnight and hosting a pop-up in Flat Iron Square. There, dear pancake lovers, you will find a limited edition pancake called A Very Lemony Affair featuring two fluffy buttermilk pancakes, lemon and sugar-coated pistachios, candied lemon peel ricotta cream, lemon zested raspberries, more zest, more lemon and a bit of sugar! And, to work off your pancakes, why not take part in a three-legged pancake flipping race and lemon bobbing?

Mews of Mayfair

Phwoar – take a look at that stack of gloopy goodness that Mews of Mayfair has rustled up. If you like Piña Colada then you’re in luck as, thinking ahead to sunnier climes, they’ve created some totally moreish pancakes of that flavour made with pineapple, coconut compote, Captain Morgan rum syrup and coconut yoghurt. You’ll be able to devour the tasty treats at the pop-up pancake station in Mews Art Gallery, but be quick because we’ve got an inkling that they’re going to be popular!

Mmm, Balthazar has got some scrumptious pancake offerings this Shrove Tuesday.
