As someone with thinner lips, I’m always on the lookout for products that can offer a fuller pout – ideally, without breaking the bank. Last year, I waxed lyrical about the Huda Beauty lip stain dupe, and now I’ve gone one better. I’m still loving lip stains generally (a brilliant hack for low-maintenance girlies), but now I’ve found another, affordable option that offers an even better result: NYX’s Lip Lingerie liner.

NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie Lip Liner Stain, £11.99
Shade: Cuff Me

The £12 find

As with most viral beauty products, I discovered this latest one on TikTok. As a lip stain that offers longer wear than your classic lipstick or gloss, what I really love about this liner is the tiny nib on the end of the applicator, which offers extra precision – a game-changer when it comes to natural-looking overlining.

How to apply

The pointed tip makes applying this liner super smooth and accurate, which I love. I take my time, starting with slightly overlining the middle of my top and bottom lip, before tapering back to my natural lip line for the outer corners (a beauty tip for a more natural-looking, fuller pout). Then, I finish by swiping the colour across the rest of my lips to avoid having a clear ‘line’ where the stain starts and ends.

On TikTok, some prefer to just swipe across the outer corners of their lips and leave the middle clear. Equally, you can smudge the liner into the rest of your lips to blend it out. So, in terms of application, it’s a ‘choose your own adventure’ vibe, but you can’t really go wrong, in my opinion.

One thing I would say is that this is great for offering an even, pigmented base. But, remember, this is a liner, which means that there isn’t much of a ‘finish’ at the end. Below I’ve offered a ‘before’ and ‘after’ photo with just the liner on my lips, so you can see the full effect, but I’d also usually top this with a clear or slightly tinted lip balm to create a more hydrated finish on the lip.

As my go-to lip product right now, I’ve noticed that the nib has started to dry out in comparison to when I first got it, but it’s still very usable and I love the result.
