With fifteen years working in the fashion industry, I spend a fair amount of time thinking about what to wear (perhaps too much time). As Digital Editor at The Handbook, my wardrobe has to keep up with busy days that swing from commuting and meetings to filming and often attending evening events. So, this week, I decided to keep track of my office outfits – here’s how it went…

Outfit non-negotiables

I love outfits that look put together and have a fashion-forward edge, but there are two things I consider non-negotiable.

First, my outfit has to be comfortable. Some girlies can spend a whole day walking around in pointed pumps – and look amazing, might I add – but I’m all about slouchy silhouettes and shoes you can walk a mile in.

Secondly, I’m not a big fan of wearing bright hues (my colour analysis expert would be sorely disappointed – alas). Granted, I might wear the occasional pigmented knit, but I’m drawn more to neutrals and monochrome. So, with that in mind, here’s what I wore to work for a week in our London office.

Monday

My current obsession is teaming white T-shirts with V-neck knits – it’s a simple pairing but one I’m sporting at least once a week right now – it’s easy but looks very put together.

Tuesday

Teamed with non-printed staples (denim and a leather jacket), I am a fan of the plaid shirt trend. As for how long I’ll choose to don it, that’s another matter, but for now, I’m a fan.

Wednesday

When I don’t know what to wear to work, I reach for the fail-safe combo of jeans and a blazer. Plus, these deep indigo Agolde jeans make every outfit feel that bit smarter.

Thursday

I love transitioning this summery midi skirt into autumn by teaming with a jumper and suede pieces. It’s super comfy, and is a nice break from my go-to jeans and trousers.
