London is already in love with Middle Eastern cuisine, with some of the best Lebanese restaurants in the world. Well now the bar is being raised even further with the arrival of quite possibly the best restaurant in the Middle East.
Abd el Wahab, one of the most acclaimed Lebanese restaurants in the Middle East, has just opened its first international outpost on Belgravia’s Pont Street. The slick import is serving traditional Lebanese dishes alongside wines and Arabic coffees from the region, all set over two light-filled floors designed by Beirut-based Antonie Tabet & Associates.
The menu will mirror the style and quality of the restaurant group’s existing restaurants, with a selection of Abd el Wahab classics, selected by the group’s Executive Chef Kamil Bouloot. Expect a wide array of mezze dishes, perfect for sharing, along with vegetarian, meat and fish-based courses.
The wines are award-winning and set out to prove to European palates that Lebanese wines are at least their equal, with over 5,000 years of growing experience. Indeed, the wines stocked by Abd el Wahab come from a wine cellar purpose built by the Romans!
With restaurants in Beiruit, Bahrain, Satar, Dubai, Cairo and Abu Dhabi, London was the next logical step. And there’s only one logical response from Londoners, to head down an try it out.
