I can’t tell you how excited I was when this show dropped. Not only was it inspired by the works of Slim Aarons – one of my favourite photographers – but it’s a joyful extravaganza of fashion, palatial homes, dreamy decor and poolside chic. Tune in to the series, for the drama, yes, not to mention the brilliant cast including Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett and Allison Janney, but the sheer beauty of the costume and sets is a vision like no other; a feast for the eyes, if you will.
Despite the dark undercurrent of gossip and societal hierarchy, each scene is sun-drenched and joyful. It invites us into a dreamlike summer and as the weather slowly begins to turn here in the UK, I can’t help but be drawn in. I feel the urge to fill my home with giant palms, colourful crockery, striped parasols and flamingos (of the ornament kind!). Everything about this look is fun, aesthetic and Instagrammable. Jonathan Adler is a must for all of the above. The designer is, in fact, the pure epitome of modern American glamour with a collection featuring bold ceramics, retro-inspired furniture and homewares that could have been plucked straight from the sixties.
