Pastel Decor Inspo Is Giving Us Serious Summer Vibes

From lemon yellow and pistachio green to soft pink and baby blue, pastel homeware is where it’s at. Get ready to dip into the latest ice cream colours…
There’s a relatively new term on the block and I’d say it covers our love for pastels pretty well. We’ve had minimalism and maximalism, and now, for those of us on the fence, there is midimalism. We don’t want total pared back living, nor do we want clashing prints and patterns, so midimalist styling lends itself nicely to the softer palette of candy-coloured pastels.
While looking into the Palm Royale-inspired piece, it was very clear that designers were embracing retro hues; ice cream colours that celebrate both sunny days and vintage decor. Author and Fashion Editor, Erica Davies, is certainly not shy of colour, but her bedroom is a delicious blend of delicate pinks and gentle blues without being overwhelming. Proving that colour isn’t always ‘too much’.
Pastel decor can have an almost cloud-like effect; it is calming and comforting. So unsurprisingly, it is often found in nurseries, but in a world desperate for calm, it’s time for the grown-ups to embrace a little of this muted scheme. From designer arm chairs at Jonathan Adler to iconic Louis Poulsen lighting, the selection of homewares painted in pastels is not just varied, but exciting and covetable. The sixties influence is evident, but each piece is totally contemporary. Just look at the Helle Mardahl glass collection. Utter brilliance.
