8 New Restaurants To Know This March

On the hunt for the coolest new hideout spot? From the highly-anticipated Josephine restaurant to the stylish new rooftop to know, we take a look at the best restaurant openings this March.

These Days 

If you’re on the hunt for a new spot for classy afternoon drinks, look to These Days Aperitivo Bar. Located on Druid Street, it’s a small, relaxed bar and kitchen, helping to bring the aperitivo culture to London. 

Alongside a mix of stylish spritzes, there’ll be a regularly changing seasonal menu designed with sharing in mind. Look forward to the likes of popcorn cockles; cured trout with blood orange ponzu; Jerusalem artichokes with onsen egg; veal schnitzel with kimkraut; a house charcuterie board; and a rich dark ganache with blood orange and sage.

TT Rooftop Restaurant 

TT, formerly known as TT Liquor, is launching a new restaurant this month and if the rooftop photos are anything to go by, we know it’s going to be a hit. 

Led by ex-Oren head chef, Sam Lone, this new rooftop restaurant will boast a wood-fired, produce-led menu, with smoking, pickling and baking featuring heavily. Food will be served across two floors of the newly renovated rooftop and new ground-floor restaurant. 

Menu highlights include dry-aged ribeye with chimichurri; lamb shoulder a la plancha with roasted garlic yoghurt; and barbecued mackerel with pickled chilli hot sauce. The smoked cauliflower cheese already feels like it’ll be an instant hit and a table must-order.

Josephine

On that’s been on our radar for a while, Josephine restaurant will finally open its doors on Fulham Road this month. Led by Claude and Lucy Bosi, this charming neighbourhood French bistro nods to Claude’s Lyonnaise roots. 

Inspired by his grandmother, the menu will be filled with nostalgic French favourites, from rich French onion soup to rabbit in mustard sauce and bavette in a shallot sauce. Alongside the a la carté menu, there’ll be a regularly changing plat de jour showcasing regional French specialities.

Unlock 

A new pizza restaurant has come knocking on the doors of London and we’re excited. Set up by Napoli-born siblings Arianna and Giovanni Izzo, Unlock is a pizza restaurant, cocktail bar and art collective space opening in Hackney Wick this March. 

The space has been designed stylishly, with purple neon lights framing the windows, a 10m concrete bar with stainless steel top taking centre stage and a small seating area with up to 18 covers available. 

The pizza menu is divided into classics and artisanal options, with topics such as truffle cream, mortadella DOP, burrata, hazelnut crumbs and fresh basil. A set menu will also be available to give guests the chance to sample each artisanal topping paired with cocktails.

Carmel

From secluded dining spaces perfect for groups to Mediterranean small plates, Carmel is the new restaurant that everyone’s adding to their bucket list. 

Launched by Josh Katz and Mattia Bianchi, this Fitzrovia outpost specialises in small and sharing plates, filled with flavours and produce from after the Eastern Mediterranean. Expect dishes such as monkfish crudo with sheep’s yoghurt; whole sea bream with Calabrian hot honey; seafood pappardelle with mussels, squid, hake and saffron; and flatbread topped with lamb prosciutto and guindilla, anchovy and chilli butter. 

Wine will be the drink of order, with co-founder and wine buyer Mattia working with some of the finest low-intervention producers from around the world.

Shanghai Noir

Opening on 7th March, Shanghai Noir is a brand new Indo-Chinese brasserie taking over the lower ground floor of the Old Westminster Fire Station. Complete with art deco design, it’ll nod to the heydays of 1920s and 30s Shanghai. 

The menu has been curated by executive chef Amit Bagyal and head chef Velino Goes, with dishes such as black bean scallops; five-spied beef with wild mushroom bao; devil’s chicken lollipops; and green papaya and mango salad.

Franklin & Baines 

Restauranteur Olivier Cohen and leisure entrepreneur Ashley Letchford are set to launch a new restaurant, Franklin & Baines, focusing on delicious British steak and great cocktails. The space is set to be lively with regular DJs and live music at the weekends. 

Located on Clapham High Street, the menu will draw inspiration from British and American cuisine, with a focus on grilled steaks. Menu highlights include BBQ corn ribs; chicken Caesar salad; flat iron steaks; and a tomahawk option for two.

NIJU

Translating to ‘20’ in Japanese, NIJU is a new Japanese dining destination opening up in late March. Home to a new bespoke sushi bar, unique dining spaces, hideaway cocktail bar and a beautifully decked out private dining room, there’s something for everyone here. 

The restaurant will offer ‘Katei Ryori’ style cooking, meaning ‘home-cooked food’ in Japanese, with a strong focus on seasonal produce. Meanwhile, the hidden bar Nipperkin, will serve up a curated menu of Japanese-influenced Sandos and bespoke cocktails.
