James Dye, the co-owner of Frank’s Café and The Camberwell Arms, is set to open a new music-led wine bar and restaurant this October. 

Named after his great-grandmother, Bambi is set to be the new space to soak up great music, wine and food. The wine bar-cum-restaurant has been designed really stylishly, with an expansive record collection curated by Run Dem Crew founder Charlie Dark MBE. 

On the food front, the kitchen is set to be headed up by Henry Freestone (of Peckham Cellars fame) and will feature a mix of bar snacks and larger dishes designed around sharing. Think cauliflower cheese arancini; smoked mackerel pate with pickled cucumbers; chicken parm ciabatta; whole roast chicken with chicken fat focaccia and green sauce; and apple crumble sundae.

The latest opening from the team behind Fitzrovia’s Akoko, Akara will be bringing West African cuisine to Borough Yards. 

Named after the black-eye bean fritter with roots in West Africa, the forty-cover restaurant will bring the flavours of the region to life in a relaxed setting. Nodding to its name, the restaurant will serve up a variety of akaras, the crispy savoury fritter made from black-eye beans, featuring fillings such as Carabinero prawns to chanterelle mushroom patê. 

Other hero dishes include labu aged beef; dibi lamb; aubergine dressed with chilli oil; and nokoss sea bream. 

The restaurant will pay homage to the building, featuring its historical archways, exposed brick walls and original features.

Embodying the spirit of the traditional Japanese izakaya and communal celebration of tapas-style dining, EDO IZAKAYA is a brand new restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine. 

Opening up on Old Street, the restaurant will be bringing traditional flavours of Japan to London, all with a contemporary touch. Divided into six sections, the menu will feature fresh sashimi and nigiri, small plates, signature rolls, bao buns, rolls and tacos, and hearty Izakaya larger plates. 

To go alongside, guests can sip on sake and sake-based cocktails, including the refreshing Sake Mojito featuring Sawanotsuru sake, jasmine syrup, lime juice and fresh mint leaves.

The latest arrival to the newly opened Arcade Battersea, Solis is a brand-new 80-cover restaurant specialising in dishes cooked over a chicken and steak grill. 

The space is named after a 16th-century explorer said to have been the first European to land in Uruguay, and will draw flavour influences from both sides of the voyage, from Spain and Portugal to Uruguay and Argentina. 

The signature section of the menu will include half a spatchcock chicken with smoked aji-aji oil, as well as flat-iron steak with Solis’ version of entrecôte sauce. Both come served with fries and an Asador salad, featuring sliced onion and tomatoes with oregano and olive oil.

The founders of north London’s popular group of Fink’s cafes are set to open a new standalone restaurant, Saltine, this October. Head chef Phil Wood’s (formerly St John Marylebone) menu will feature a variety of seasonal dishes led by provenance and sustainability.

The neighbourhood space will serve up dishes such as cured bream with fennel seed saltine; slow roast lamb with braised wax beans and green anise; pigeon with corn, miso butter and hazelnuts; and chocolate and pistachio torte with sour cherries and crème fraîche.

Brooklands at The Peninsula London 

Landing on the rooftop of the newly launched The Peninsula London, Brooklands is the new opening from acclaimed chef Claude Bosi. 

Boasting uninterrupted views over the city’s skyline and interiors inspired by its namesake – Brooklands Racetrack – this is an opening that every car enthusiast will love. 

The tasting menus will feature the best of British ingredients using French techniques. Expect to undergo a gastronomic journey across the British Isles, delighting on dishes such as Exmoor caviar with Roscoff onion and duck jelly; Great Fen Farm celeriac Nosotto with crab and coconut; and Scottish cèpe, banana and crème fraîche.

The Cocochine 

Set across four floors, The Cocochine is the restaurant opening every London foodie has been waiting for since its first announcement in February 2022. Now, it’s been confirmed that the venue will be opening its doors this autumn on Bruton Place. 

The brainchild of chef Larry Jayasekara (formerly head chef at Petrus) and will feature an intimate dining room, with 28 covers open for both lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, two floors will act as a private dining area, as well as a basement bar on the lower floor. 

Featuring ingredients from a regenerative farm in Northamptonshire, the à la carte menu will be highly influenced by the chef’s travels across the globe.

Il Gattopardo 

Inspired by 1960s Italy, Il Gattopardo will transport its guests to the Italian Riviera from the moment they arrive. 

The restaurant is the latest member of the restaurant group behind brands including COYA, Amazonico and Bar des Pres. It will feature a mix of Italian classics and modern dishes, with a focus on Sicily, Amalfi and the Southern Isles. 

Outside, you’ll find London’s hottest new hidden courtyard terrace with a fully retractable roof, perfect for both summer and winter.

A Tokyo institute renowned for serving specialist beef for the last 50 years, Aragawa is landing in London this month. Headed by Fumiya Kase (previously of one Michelin-starred L’orgueil, Tokyo), the restaurant will serve hyper-rare Tajima heifer. 

Tajima beef can only be certified if it meets a strict list of criteria, including marbling standards, texture, firmness and the age of the cow, and this is the first time Londoners can get their hands on a dish using it. Aragawa will prepare the beef in a classic way, seasoned only with salt and pepper, and served with seasonal ingredients. 

The interiors, designed by Dale Atkinson from Rosendale Design, reflect Japanese craftsmanship, drawing on traditional design.

Mark Dobbie and Andy Oliver, the names behind som saa, will be opening bringing Thai flavours to Borough Markets with the opening of Kolae. 

Kolae is a style of cooking found in Thailand’s southern provinces. It sees ingredients coated in a curry-like coconut marinade before it’s grilled over open flames, and this new restaurant will specialise on this technique. 

The signature dish will include half kolae chicken, marinated in a sauce with lemongrass, fresh turmeric and black pepper, as well as seasonal fish, seafood and vegetarian specials.
