Calling all Ted Lasso fans! The wait for the hotly anticipated season 4 is nearly over. The teaser, which premiered yesterday, promises to see all our favourite characters return to AFC Richmond, however, this time, it appears Ted will be taking over the women’s team in an unexpected plot twist. Set to a soaring new track by Mumford & Sons and Hozier, the 90-second clip gives us a taste of the heart and humour to come. Best of all? The release date is much closer than you think. Here is everything we know so far:

The plot

Season 4 is set to see Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, make his return to London, but there’s a massive catch. This time, he isn’t coaching the men’s side, but rather, he’s taking over AFC Richmond’s women’s team in the second division. While the teaser gives little more away with regard to the plot, it does give us a glimpse of the new squad in action, as audiences brace to get to know a whole new team this season.

The cast

As for the cast, audiences can expect to see all their favourites return to Richmond for another season. Hannah Waddingham, The Fall Guy and Sex Education, will be stepping back into her role as Rebecca Welton, while it goes without saying that Jason Sudeikis will be back playing the titular character. Other returning faces include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), Roy Kent (Brett Goldestein) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard). New faces will also be joining the cast, notably, Tanya Reynolds, also of Sex Education fame, who looks set to be Ted’s new right-hand woman on the pitch.

UK release date

The best news? We don’t have to wait until 2027. Apple TV+ has confirmed that Season 4 officially kicks off on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Episodes will then drop weekly through to October 7.
