The highly anticipated new release from A24, The Drama, is officially out in cinemas tomorrow. Set to star two of Hollywood’s biggest current stars, Zendaya (Dune, Challengers, Euphoria) and Robert Pattinson (Batman, The Devil All the Time, Twilight), the pair are teaming up to play lovers in the build-up to their wedding day. Here’s all we know:

What do we know about The Drama?

Zendaya had a big year in cinema last year, starring in both the sci-fi blockbuster Dune Part Two and the sports love triangle drama Challengers, and it appears she will be carrying the same momentum into 2026. Pattinson, meanwhile, lent his voice acting chops recently to the Studio Ghibli anime The Boy and the Heron, and played the central role in Mickey 17 from Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho. So, it’s no wonder that anything starring both of them is big news.

While much of the content of The Drama remains a mystery, audiences were given a glimpse into the action last December with Zendaya and Pattinson’s fake engagement announcement in The Boston Globe. The advertisement was designed to look like a legitimate social notice and appeared in the Living/Arts section of the paper.

The film is directed by Kristoffer Borgli, who most recently released the Nicolas Cage led Dream Scenario, and is being produced for the screen by A24, which also recently worked on another romance film, We Live in Time, starring power couple Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh.

What the trailer tells us

Released earlier this year, the trailer gave audiences a little insight into this new twisted love story – if you could go as far as to call it that. Pattinson and Zendaya are pictured talking about their big day and discussing what will be said in Pattinson’s character’s vows. The tone seems playful, giggly and light; however, the mood appears to shift upon a dinner party with the pair and friends, played by Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim. As the group pose the question, “What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done,” Zendaya’s character delivers a shocking confession which stuns the room. Perhaps the trailer has created more questions than answers, with audiences being left wondering what on earth Zendaya did.
