Ties Are Back In Vogue – Here Are 4 Ways We’re Styling Them

Divisive they may be, but ties for women are back for Spring/Summer ’25. From full-on power suits to cute kilted looks, scroll on for four ways to style this season’s most unlikely accessories trend.
Womenswear has long flirted with the notion of a tie. There were the Old Hollywood looks of Marlene Dietrich and. Madonna’s suit era, Diane Keaton’s iconic Annie Hall costume and that grey men’s suit worn by Julia Roberts at the 1990 Golden Globes.
This season, we’ve seen the typically men’s accessories pop up on the catwalks of Saint Laurent, Dior and Giorgio Armani worked into looks from opposite ends of the spectrum. There was a very ’80s Wall Street-inspired suit at Saint Laurent and a much softer take on the trend at Armani – with loose layers and an off-white colour palette.

On the red carpet, ties have been making a bit of a comeback too. Most notably, at this Year’s Critics Choice Awards, where The Bear star Ayo Edebiri paid homage to Julia Robert’s 1990 Golden Globes look, and paired a gold metallic tie with a grey power suit. The actress has also brought accessories into her everyday wardrobe, including vintage pieces paired with a trench coat, baseball cap, and baggy jeans for a laid-back look.
Always a sauce of inspiration and a master at borrowing from the boys, Alexa Chung’s pinstripe suit and tie combo, which she wore to Wimbledon in 2017, will forever be a point of reference for an excellent tailored look.

Putting the power in a power suit, Caroline Lin’s monochrome look is an outfit for when you need to feel unstoppable. Both androgynous and full-on glamour all at once, it’s a bold choice for anything from the boardroom to a cocktail date and is set to be a huge trend this season.

Lean into PANTONE’s colour of the year, Mocha Mousse, with this velvety rich chocolate look. We love the playful twist on a classic business look, by swapping tailored trousers for a pleated mini skirt, socks and loafers.

Look 4 – Full Skirt & Sporty Sneakers
You’ve probably heard of TikTok’s “wrong shoe theory” – the art of taking a look and pairing it with footwear that really shouldn’t work. Well, we’re going one step further and adding another unexpected element. We love Jess Cheng’s Damson Madder-esque girly co-ord, paired with sporty dad trainers and a boardroom-worthy tie. Also, how dreamy is this blue and brown colour palette?
