The Bear Returns This Weekend And It Looks Even More Intense

It’s time to head back to the kitchen: the wait is nearly over for the much-awaited third season of The Bear , the smash-hit FX drama-comedy that has captured our hearts for the past few years.
Having swept both the Emmys and the Golden Globes for season 2, we’ll be back with Carmy, Syd, Richie and co. next month for what’s shaping up to be another incredible season of TV. The series recently released the first teaser, and we can’t wait. If you thought shows this year like Ripley and Breathtaking were tense, then you ain’t seen nothing yet.
What happened in Season 2, and what do we know about Season 3?
Season 2 was something of a rebirth, with Carmy (Jeremy Allen White, who won an Emmy and a Globe for Leading Actor) leading his crew to turn his business from a family-run sandwich shop into a high-class dining restaurant- no easy task of course. As is usual for a new season of The Bear, we don’t know a huge amount about plot details with things being kept largely under wraps, but Season 2’s ending very much set things up for the future. Without giving too much away for those who’ve not seen it yet, our head chef wasn’t in a particularly good place the last time we saw him, having become obsessed with his work and constantly striving for perfection, setting very high standards for himself. He’s got personal issues to deal with (namely the loss of his brother still weighing on him, and a relationship with Claire (Molly Gordon), and he’s largely left adrift as the season came to a close).
Syd (Ayo Edebiri, who won awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting) is also feeling the heat, literally and metaphorically, as she tries to help run the restaurant as Carmy spirals into a bad patch. Season 3 then will pick up where we left off, with characters like Marcus (Lionel Boyce) and Richie (Ebon Moss Bacharach) also having unresolved story arcs as they play their parts in making The Bear a culinary success. Richie came into his element last season, handling orders and interacting with customers, while Marcus, the pastry chef, fears the death of his very ill mother.

What does the trailer tell us?
The teaser trailer is very simple, with Carmy bathed in blue light when he first appears, before switching on the kitchen light and putting down his equipment, and sternly staring into the camera as it zooms out into the city. He might be physically out of the cooler, but mentally seems very much stuck there. A full trailer will inevitably be on the way, and it looks like the emotional rollercoaster that’s made the show so watchable isn’t stopping anytime soon.
Where can I watch?
The ten episode Season 3 of The Bear will begin on 27th June on Disney+ in the UK, and all episodes will be dropping on the same day.
