Zara X Steven Meisel Just Dropped – Here’s Everything We Love

20th September 2023 | By Astrid Carter

You’ll have seen his photographs even if you don’t know his name. Steven Meisel is one of fashion’s most prolific photographers, shooting the likes of Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and in recent years, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Adwoa Aboah. He has countless Vogue covers under his belt, shot campaigns for the world’s biggest fashion houses and was responsible for the legendary and boundary-pushing Sex coffee table book working with Madonna.

Now, Meisel has teamed up with Zara to launch his very first fashion line, Steve Meisel New York. It’s not the first time the photographer has worked with the high street behemoth – he has shot countless campaigns for them – but it is his first foray into another side of the fashion world.

The aesthetic draws Fromm Meisel’s own personal style, from grungy ‘90s New York through to a ‘60s rock ’n’ roll feel. Standouts of the collection are a Kate-worthy faux fur coat to a Kurt Cobain-inspired slouchy knit in murky greys. But it’s the leather pieces – of which there are a lot! – that really caught our eye. From a cute babydoll, halter neck dress to a gothic leather trench and rockstar lace-up pants.

Meisel has, naturally, shot the campaign himself. Enrolling some of his favourites, who just happen to be the world’s biggest supermodels, from Linda to Kaia Gerber, Gigi to Amber Valetta.

The pieces in the collection feel pretty timeless, with capsule heroes you’ll wear for years to come. Get them before they sell out.

Meisel has enlisted the help of some of his favourite friends to shoot the campaign, who just so happen to be the world’s top supermodels too.

Black coats are a huge trend for AW23 and these two both tick the box perfectly.
