Statement Kitchen & Bathroom Tile Ideas We Love

From monochrome marble to 1970s-inspired print, we’ve handpicked a host of kitchen and bathroom tile ideas to bring colour and joy to two of the hardest-working rooms in the house. Choosing tiles for your bathroom or kitchen space – whether that’s for a small splashback or the entire floor – can be a daunting task, especially if you’re after something that sings to your personality and that you want to create a bit of noise in the room. But find the right ones and they can completely transform a space and set the tone you want.
Thankfully, there has never been more choice on offer, with brands such as Lusso, who specialise in the most exquisite marble; Claybrook, who are masters at nailing retro-inspired designs; and Bert & May, whose intricate porcelain tiles look like they could have been handpicked from beautiful buildings in Lisbon or traditional riads in Morocco. Scroll on to see three of our favourite tile designs right now and how to make them work in your own home.
Monochromatic Chevron

Lusso Stone, PALAZZO CHEVRON CARRARA & NERO MARQUINA MARBLE MOSAIC WALL OR FLOOR TILE
From £180
If you are looking to add some five-star hotel luxury to your bathroom, Lusso is a brand to bookmark. They specialise in using the highest quality polished marble in a contemporary way, and this Palazzo Chevron blends together classic white Carrara with Nero Marquina, a beautiful black limestone.
We love it tiled over an entire wall, as seen here, mixed with other marble pieces and gold finishes for an ultra-luxe effect, but it would work equally well tiled into a walk-in shower or even used as flooring in a hallway.
Checkerboard Tiles

Nina Campbell Rivage Indigo,
£71.81 /m2

Claybrook Kromatic Canvas Tiles,
£1.32 each
Checked prints have become a huge trend in the interiors world and they look set to stay. The look works particularly well in tiling thanks to its repetitive nature and it’s a great way to tie the rest of the room in by pulling out a key colour.
These stunning Rivage tiles by iconic interior designer Nina Campbell come in a gorgeous inky indigo, with rippled edges that add texture and depth to a space. Her whole tile range has been created to complement her signature fabric and wallpaper designs, which is a great way of adding softness to a kitchen, be that through pendant lampshades, banquette seating or fabric skirting below cabinetry or café curtains at the window.
Similarly, Claybrook’s Kromatic floor and wall tiles come in 16 different shades that can be used to create this checkerboard effect. Designed in Italy and made using 50% recycled materials, each tile has a slightly rounded, pillowy edge which, again, adds more depth to a room and makes the final result a lot more polished. We love this combination of rich “Wine” shade with the off-pink “Canvas” colour in a kitchen.
Andalusian-Inspired Tiles

Maitland & Poate Tierra Noche Tile
From £175/m2
We love this Tierra Nocho tile with its rustic blend of olive, burgundy, off-white and black.
Maitland & Poate is the brand behind these beautiful, hand-painted tiles. They are based in London but source their product from forgotten floors in old crumbing Adalucian farmhouses, and then work with experts to restore each and every tile back to its former glory. They also work with local artisans in the region to create new tiles inspired by the old and the results are just as stunning.
We love this Tierra Nocho tile with its rustic blend of olive, burgundy, off-white and black, used as flooring in an entryway or in a shower room to add a soft bohemian edge to the space.
