The Latest Designer Wallpaper To Revamp Your Home
Unsurprisingly we’re all looking for ways to inject colour, style and fun into our interiors. From bold paint choices to unique pieces of art, there are numerous ways to add flamboyance and flair. However, there’s nothing more striking and transformative than dressing your walls in the most fabulous wallpaper. We reveal the styles and trends that will have you redecorating before lunch…
Our love affair with wallpaper has rarely faltered. In fact, this year it’s been reignited with the most incredible designer wallpaper from both traditional brands and smaller boutique labels. We’ve fallen for the feature wall, the all-cocooning wall-to-wall papering, and more recently we’ve given our ceilings a little more attention. My own bathroom ceiling has been given the art deco stamp with a richly patterned Mind The Gap paper. Put it this way, we’re pushing boundaries and are breaking the unwritten rules to be different. It’s experimental; it’s fun.
In big news Rockett St George has just unveiled their brand new own-brand wallpaper collection. Designed by co-founders Jane and Lucy, the range is everything you’d imagine it to be: exciting, unabashed and beautiful. Expect both art deco and ‘70s influences, and, of course, leopard print. We also have the new collection from the ongoing collaboration between Little Green and the National Trust. ‘National Trust Papers III’, is a stunning collection of eight historic wallpaper designs adapted and recoloured for use within the modern interior. Also, adding more incentive to buy, Little Greene’s Creative Director, Ruth Mottershead, says: ‘The contributions made from the sale of every roll of National Trust wallpaper goes towards supporting the National Trust’s conservation work, to ensure the nation’s historic houses, gardens and landscapes can be enjoyed for years to come.”
This elegant mural featuring birds, bees and bluebells has been created from remaining fragments of wallpaper found at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk. Originally on a striped background, the remaining source material has been adapted, transformed and recoloured.
The Wallpaper Trends
2023 brings us so much choice and inspiration. In terms of trends, we’re seeing a lot of traditional prints thanks to our love for cottagecore, but we’re also seeing an abundance of blooms and biophilic designs. Picture everything from the country garden to luscious tropical palms. Both House Of Hackney and Wildmore have an array of wildflower prints, while the eclectic and fabulous Divine Savages indulges us with jungle scenes, rich cocktail vibes and plenty of retro glamour.
Which segues nicely into our adoration for art deco; a trend that offers opulence and grandeur, making art deco wallpaper ideal for at-home bars. It’s both a strong and decadent trend introducing pinks, metallics and deep reds into our rooms. Similarly, our fondness for retro styles extends to the ‘70s as we see a revival in muted colours, geo and animal prints. Poodle & Blonde is our go-to for clashing patterns and vintage-inspired looks.
Wallpaper Borders
Finally, we couldn’t talk about the seventies – and the eighties – and not mention the return of the border. Yes, it’s back. You may be getting flashbacks to grandparents’ homes, but this is the look interior designers are rekindling. We love the clash of print on print, however adding a border to an otherwise plain wall is your fast track to cool.
