We love Christmas sandwiches – and while there are plenty of gourmet options our social team is reviewing, we thought we’d road test a load of the ones you pass every day, rounding up Christmas sandwiches from the likes of Gail’s, Leon, Pret and Waitrose – here are our favourites, ranked in order…
Made with Waste-Less Sourdough, this festive sandwich is layered with smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, bacon jam, chipotle aioli and rocket.
Our verdict: “Crust is great really thick and fresh.”
“This sandwich is truly incredible, the best of the bunch.”
Featuring chicken, seasoned mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, beechwood smoked bacon, spinach, umami onions and chilli relish on buttered malted bread.
Our verdict: “I like that this is a triple stacker with two types of chutney – phenomenal. The creamy chicken is also tasty.”
“I wouldn’t have thought I’d be a fan but this a very moreish sandwich and the gravy sauce has a rich umami flavour.”
Breaded chicken, pickled slaw, cranberry chutney served with a gochujang mayo. Our verdict: “If you want to try something a bit different, this is the Christmas sandwich to go for, with the warming gochujang mayo.”
“Really flavourful and a good spin on the classic”
Featuring miso and caramelised onion butter marinated turkey, juicy pork stuffing, crispy bacon and onions, cranberry chutney, aioli, plus salad leaves.
Our verdict: “If you prefer wraps to sandwiches, this succulent, savoury combination is just the ticket.
With marinated chargrilled carrots, sweet potato & chickpea stuffing, and that famous Port & orange cranberry sauce, served alongside pickled cabbage, carrots, and crispy onions on malted bread. Our verdict: “Feels very festive for a veggie sandwich.”
“They’ve managed to make the carrot taste meaty, which is nice.”
Creamy French brie, sweet cranberry sauce and mayo teamed with tender spinach on malted bread. Our verdict: “Good, very creamy. and nice balance of sweet and savoury.”
