If there’s one product that can instantly make you look more awake, it’s concealer, and finding a good one for £5 feels almost unheard of. So when e.l.f. Cosmetics gave us the opportunity to try its brand new Soft Glam Satin Concealer, we were keen. Here’s how it went.

In Partnership With e.l.f. Cosmetics

What sets it apart

e.l.f. Cosmetics’ new Soft Glam Satin Concealer comes in 36 shades and is designed to brighten, blur and even out skin with a soft, satin finish, all for just £5 – the price of your morning coffee.

The new launch is part of the wider Soft Glam family (which also includes Satin Foundation & Brightening Corrector), all with the same goal: offering natural-looking buildable coverage that feels lightweight and looks like skin, without breaking the bank. Better yet, e.l.f. Cosmetics is also famously vegan and cruelty-free, which is another big tick.

Our review

I’m a big fan of e.l.f. Cosmetics, especially the Camo Liquid Bronzer & Contour, and I’ve heard great things about their foundation, so I was really excited to try this concealer.

The Soft Glam Satin Concealer comes with a doe foot applicator, so you can apply the product exactly where you want it, which I like. For this review, I’ll be using the concealer along with the matching Satin Foundation to give it the fairest test.

Application

To be completely transparent, I put this concealer to work in harsh conditions – we’re talking: under-eye darkness, redness around the nose (rosacea in full force) and a scattering of blemishes. After applying the foundation for an even base, I dotted the concealer around areas that needed a bit of brightening, such as my under eyes and around the nose, and to help dull the redness in a few blemishes.

I have to say, this concealer is really smooth and blends beautifully, melting into your skin.

For fuller coverage, I let the concealer sit on my face for about 30-60 seconds before blending, allowing the formula to thicken and oxidise slightly, resulting in higher opacity and better adhesion. Then, I started using a small but dense concealer brush to lightly buff out the product, switching to dabbing my finger to blend a second layer on more targeted areas (such as blemishes). I have to say, this concealer is really smooth and blends beautifully, melting into your skin.

Results & verdict

The before and after photos really speak for themselves for this one. Under the eyes, it gave a soft, brightening effect without looking heavy, and around the nose, it did a solid job of cancelling out redness. Paired with the Soft Glam Satin Foundation, the overall finish is still very skinlike, making this a great combo for everyday or even going out.

Before

After

On a day with angry breakouts, I’d follow this base with a colour corrector (the Soft Glam range also has a Brightening Corrector I’d love to try) and/or a slightly thicker product for even more coverage, then a powder to set everything and smooth out any texture. Notably, if your complexion leans on the drier side, a good layer of moisturiser underneath helps it sit even more naturally and keeps the glow intact.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the results and I think you’re hard-pressed to find a better affordable option with a finish this good.

For this review, I used the Soft Glam Satin Concealer shade 14 – Fair Cool.
I used the Soft Glam Satin Foundation in shade 21 – Light Neutral.
This is the colour corrector I’m keen to try next.
