We’ve had Euro Girl Summer, Fishman and Coastal Grandma, to name a few, but if those aesthetics don’t feel quite you, consider 2025’s Goth Girl aesthetic. We’re talking all-black, lace-covered, and vampish looks with poster girls Jenna Ortega, Charli XCX and Zoë Kravitz heading up the trend. Whether you’re already a fully fledged after-hours girly or you just want to dip your toe into the trend, scroll to see our favourite looks from Instagram and how to recreate them.

Prairie dresses and pretty summer pastels have well and truly been put to bed, for AW25 we’re looking for something much darker, sultry and cool. For all the alt girlies out there, the goth girl aesthetic is back. We’re talking lots of leather – preferably a floor-sweeping trench, and lace-trimmed pieces, chunky biker boots and studded accessories aplenty.

If there’s one girl we’re taking style notes from, it’s Charli XCX. She single-handedly made Brat Girl Summer last year, and the vibe is very much still the same, do n’t-give-a-F energy, but the look has moved into more gothic, vampy looks.

Black is without doubt the goth girl’s shade of choice – like Gabbriette‘s head-to-toe leather look – but it also works in softer white, like Charli’s feather-tipped, puff-sleeve dress for an ethereal, ghostly feel.

For something more low-key and elegant, Alexa Chung‘s recent floor-length Saint Laurent column dress feels very Morticia, whilst we’d happily wear every single look from Zoë Kravitz‘s red carpet collection – striking the balance between gothic and refined perfectly.

Influenced by Alena’s look, the goth girl aesthetic takes on a more polished, grown-up feel. The foundations of the look are pretty tame – a cosy black cardigan, black tailored trousers, and a trusty white tee – but the long, sweeping black leather trench and oversized dark shades bring the whole thing together. The high street is going to be backed with leather trenches this season – get this buttery soft AllSaints on before it’s bound to sell out.

We always love the Chloé girl aesthetic come the cooler months – Chemena Kamali is the master of laid-back, bohemian with a luxe edge. For AW25, the brand’s mood has taken on a darker, slightly gothier edge, and we can’t get enough. Think ethereal layers of white lace layered over thigh-high suede boots and lashings of gothic jewels.

Want to try the goth trend without going all-in? Emma Rose Thatcher’s grown-up look is the perfect inspiration. She creates a low-key base with light-wash denim, a white tee, and a red lip. This serves as a perfect canvas for a vampy leather trench. Finish the look with Parfois’ brilliant studded pumps for an extra dose of edge.

When it comes to the goth aesthetic, few do it better than Jenna Ortega – she is the ultimate poster girl for the look. While her epic Ann Demeulemeester three-piece suit may be out of budget, Mango offers a similar, more affordable option in a lighter shade. It may not be quite as epic, but it’s a perfect stand-in. Add chunky loafers, a McQueen skull scarf (they’re having a major renaissance right now), and a Wednesday-approved smoky eye to complete the vibe.

The ultimate after-hours look? Vampy goth. Take cues from Insta star Elba with a slinky slip dress trimmed in black lace. Pair it with knee-high boots and chunky silver jewels, and add a wash of berry-red lipstick. Finish off by throwing on Rixo’s incredible faux shearling coat to keep things cosy and chic.

Finally, we love this look from Lulu Lindinger. With its form-fitting top and handkerchief-hem skirt, the outfit feels very Y2K, very Charli XCX-style goth girl. Keep the whole look black and mix fabrics for a cool layered effect. Chunky boots and a studded, low-slung belt finish the look perfectly.
