The New Netflix Thriller Starring Hugh Bonneville & George Mackay
Everyone loves a good thriller, and Netflix excels at making them. Their new big arrival this month is I Came By, a gripping new neo-thriller starring Hugh Bonneville and George MacKay, and it releases in the UK today.
It’s directed by BAFTA award-winner Babak Anvari, who’s previously directed films like Under the Shadow and Monsterland. I Came By is a British thriller that tells the story of two young graffiti artists, played by George Mackay (known for his central role in 1917) and Percelle Ascot (known for the series Tin Star) who mostly target the rich and powerful class in Britain.

Toby (Mackay) breaks into the house of a revered former High Court judge Sir Hector Blake (played by Hugh Bonneville). It’s here that things start getting thriller-y, since Toby uncovers a shocking secret.
Also starring in the cast include Kelly MacDonald, known for her role in Line Of Duty as Joanne Davidson, and Varada Sethu, known for her role in Hard Sun as Mishal Ali.
A trailer for the new film was recently released revealing some more about the characters and plot, with Tony discovering something that frightens him: “I don’t know what I saw!” is all he says. Signs point to Hector Blake having possibly killed someone: “I tried to be kind, but I had this rage that was so liberating, so empowering… do you want to know what happen?” It’s certainly tense stuff.

Netflix’s official synopsis for the film is “A graffiti artist who targets homes of the elite uncovers a twisted secret in a hidden basement — triggering events that put his loved ones in danger.” With an eye to tackling themes like privilege and corruption, it looks set to be a really gripping ride. You can find out what happens and uncover the truth when I Came By released in cinemas on 19th August, before hitting streaming today.
