She’s a global pop icon, a red carpet regular, and now, a fragrance aficionado. Here, Kylie Minogue reveals her top beauty must-haves, love of jasmine and the grounding rituals that keep her calm on tour, plus the unexpected wellness item she always packs in her suitcase.

What’s your top beauty secret?

When I was a kid growing up in Australia, sun protection was just becoming something we were paying attention to. Through some of my teenage years, I must confess, I detoured around that and was all about maxing out that tan, but in my twenties, I became very sun aware and now do my best to make sun protection priority.

Which three beauty must-haves would you never be without?

I make my own kit with my favourite essentials, which include these three things that can usually get me out of a tight fix. 1. A colour lipstick or crème blush that can go anywhere I want a little flush of colour on my face; 2. Mascara and 3.  A rich moisturiser patted on the points I think could use a little sheen, like on cheekbones etc. and then lightly applied to my hair too for an instant de-frizz!

Which beauty or wellness items do you always travel with?

This will sound like a weird wellness item, but I’m never without my mini salt lamps. And if I could always have a gardenia fresh from my Mum’s garden, that would be my go-to!

You’ve recently launched your new scents, Lovers Fleur and Lovers Noir. What does fragrance mean to you- have you always loved to wear perfume?

I’ve gone through many incarnations on my fragrance journey, but I keep coming back to my favourites. For example, I will never ever tire of the scent of jasmine on the breeze of a balmy night (which is why I’ve included it in my Lovers duo).

So, you usually gravitate towards Jasmine then? How do certain ingredients make you feel?

It depends on the occasion or the moment. Sometimes, I want to feel lifted and refreshed by a light floral and other times, I lean towards the deeper, warmer notes. Usually, it is an instinctive decision of what feels right, but there at those surprise moments when you have that one perfume and decide to go for it, and it can really elevate how you feel.

Do you have any pre-performance beauty or fragrance rituals?

Life on the road holds many challenges, and having things that keep me grounded and with a sense of consistency is so important. I love to have a small number of things around me that make me feel good. Not too many, or it becomes overwhelming, but some favourite comfort items. Amongst all the things I do to make dressing rooms and backstage feel homely and beautiful is scent. Usually, a candle or some essential oil. Every time the singers join me for a pre-show warm-up, they always say how lovely the scent is! It really is wild how it can affect your mood, your outlook, your confidence, and happiness. That, and the lighting on stage!

You travel all around the world, do you match up your scent to the destination?

For summer, the notes are usually a little lighter and fresher, but I don’t mind changing that up as night falls.

Outside of your own fragrances, do you have any iconic perfumes in your personal collection?

Comme de Garcons, EDP, and it will always transport me back in time.

If you could bottle one moment in your career, what would it be?

Ha! That is something I would have to work on. It would be the feeling at the end of a concert when everyone feels elated, and I know we have made new memories that will carry on.

If your new Lovers fragrances had their own Kylie soundtrack, what would they sound like?

Dance euphoria!

Lastly, if you could name an icon- past or present- to wear your new fragrances, who would it be?

Marilyn Monroe!
