Everything We Know About Sacha Baron Cohen And Rosamund Pike’s Comedy Ladies First

In Netflix’s new comedy Ladies First, releasing on May 22nd, a womaniser and ladies’ man (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) gets a wake-up call when he suddenly finds himself in a very different, alternate reality where women hold all the power. He ends up going head-to-head with a female counterpart (played by Rosamund Pike) who isn’t going to make things easy for him. Intrigued? Here’s everything about it so far:
What will Ladies First be about?
The new film is an adaptation of the French film I Am Not an Easy Man (2018), and is directed by Thea Sharrock (Wicked Little Letters). Ladies First centres around a chauvinistic man and womaniser Damien Sachs (Baron Cohen), who’s a rich exec and described by Netflix as someone “who has it all- money, power, and a never-ending stream of casual flings- and he’s not afraid to rub it in everyone’s faces. On the cusp of being CEO of an ad company, Damien is knocked out by accident and wakes up in a world turned upside down and his personal nightmare: a parallel world where women are dominant.
As he discovers that this new world is very different, with all the social dynamics he is familiar with and happily took advantage of flipped on their head. As he tries to comprehend this different reality, he comes across Alex Fox (Pike), who in the world he once inhabited was an underappreciated employee at his agency- but is now the one at the top of her game. She’s more than a match for him, and with no apparent way of going back to where he was, Damien scrambles to beat out Alex for the job of CEO.

Who else stars, and is there a trailer?
Baron Cohen and Pike aren’t the only big names in Ladies First– also among the cast are Richard E. Grant, Charles Dance, Emily Mortimer and Fiona Shaw- along with Weruche Opia, Tom Davis and Kathryn Hunter.
The first trailer dropped by Netflix shows the irreverent you can expect: “Once upon a time, there was a man named Damien. He was an arsehole,” a voice narrates sardonically. There’s plenty of the usual Baron Cohen type humour, as he wakes up and discovers Alex now sitting in his office, sees a female Pope being elected on the news and plenty of other signs of the flipped dynamics of this different world. You can watch it below.
When does it release?
The good news is, we don’t have long to wait until Ladies First officially lands on screens. It will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix from May 22nd 2026.
