What To Do This Weekend: 13th-15th January

12th January 2017 | By Fran Hazell

It’s Thursday, which means that you can start winding down to the end of the week and start planning your all important weekend! This weekend we have the perfect mix of indulgence (burgers, afternoon tea and Sunday roasts) and things to get you energised (trampolining workouts and activated charcoal lemonade). Shake Shack is also opening today with limited edition burgers from Berber & Q for today only. Read on to find out more…

Ralph’s Coffee & Bar

Stylish New Bar and Coffee Shop

Ralph’s Coffee & Bar sounds like a pretty standard cafe but it suddenly seems a whole lot more fashionable when you realise the Ralph in question is Ralph Lauren. Opening his first London dining destination next to the new European Polo Ralph Lauren flagship on Regent Street, the venue is inspired by the equestrian lifestyle that the brand is synonymous with. Serving custom blend coffee and classic cocktails – think Old Fashioneds and Ridgway Margaritas – alongside bar snacks, the space will seat an intimate 24, with room for 12 more at the bar.
Opening Thursday 12th January, 10am

Where: Regent Street

ShakeBerber Burger

Limited Edition Burgers for Action Against Hunger

Work in Canary Wharf? As of today you can add frozen custard, ShackBurgers and crinkle cut fries with cheese sauce to your lunch repertoire as you’re getting a Shake Shack in Canada Square. To celebrate the launch they’ve teamed up with Berber & Q to create the ShackBerber burger – Shake Shack’s Angus beef patty is topped with Berber & Q hand-pulled lamb shawarma, whipped feta, cherry peppers and harissa ShackSauce. They only have 300 so you better head on over today, they open at 12pm. Oh and 50% of sales will be donated to Action Against Hunger – so ditch your home lunch and help charity.
Opens Thursday 12th January at 12pm

Where: The Park Pavilion, Canary Wharf, E14 5FW

The Savoy

Break Your Dry January

If you’re all about the anti-resolution then the Savoy is listening to you… They have created a limited edition cocktail containing a very well-traveled whisky. A barrel of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel has travelled the high seas aboard the Queen Mary 2 (27 countries in four months) and is ending up in the Beaufort Bar, served in a custom-made glass atop a map showing the barrel’s route around the world, from Thailand to Chile. The drink is £40 so you can blow the budgeting at the same time as you break your dry January – well, if you’re going to drink you may as well drink in style.

100 Wardour St

Trampoline Workout and Brunch

Workout and brunch; a standard Saturday morning. What’s not so standard about this workout and brunch though is that it is Boogie Bounce at 100 Wardour St. The hour long class will have you bouncing on a mini trampoline to tone you up and give you an extremely effective cardio workout. Follow it up with a two-course brunch with the likes of sweet potato and shiitake mushroom hash, beetroot and hummus on toasted olive bread and classics like scrambled egg, salmon and chives.
Saturday 14th January at 10am, tickets on 100 Wardour St’s website

Where: 100 Wardour Street, Soho, London, W1F 0TN, United Kingdom

Bronte

Brontea

With a name like theirs, it’s only fitting that Bronte start to serve afternoon tea. Embracing the British tradition but with an Asian twist, ‘Brontea’ boasts yuzu and white chocolate mousse, chocolate orange and cardamom eclairs and honey roast ham sandwiches with miso mustard. The restaurant’s pretty photogenic already but we expect the bloggers to come flocking.
Launches Wednesday 11th January. Served Wednesday-Saturday, 3-5pm

Where: 1-3 Strand, London WC2N 5EJ, United Kingdom
Website: www.bronte.co.uk

Roast

The Roast Burger

This week saw Roast launch the roast burger, which is essentially a Sunday roast in a bun and is most definitely, a little (big) slice of heaven. Welsh Black roast beef is topped with carrot piccalilli, horseradish sour cream, melted ale and mustard cheddar, curly kale and pickled red cabbage. All sandwiched between a roast potato, rosemary and garlic bun and served with red wine onion and gravy. It’s the first full week back in January – that is surely reason enough to reward yourself?

Eat, Drink, Play

This won’t save your life but it will make your day – that’s what Bounce are saying anyway about their Eat, Drink, Play offering. Drag yourself out of bed on Sunday, grab your friends on the way and head to Bounce where for £29 you’ll get any cocktail, a two-course meal and can play ping pong to your hearts content – pretty neat huh? This might just actually save our lives.
