Coronavirus may have stripped every social event from your calendar this year, but the pandemic wasn’t going to stop celebs dressing up and waltzing down the (virtual) red carpet at the Emmys.

Sunday saw some of the world’s biggest names join together for a night of awards as the Emmys entered the virtual world. Celebs joined in via video to accept their award from the comfort of their mansions, and we saw crowd favourites as well as newcomers battle it out for an Emmy title.

If you’re on the lookout for a new series to binge, we’ve rounded up our ten favourite Emmy nominated shows – some winners too of course – and where you can stream them in the UK.

Euphoria

I have to admit whenever I hear Zendaya’s name, my mind always flashes back to the Gabriel Gundacker video that went viral for him singing ‘Zendaya is Meechee’ (see here if you don’t know what I’m talking about), but this weekend saw Zendaya trend for another reason. The actress stole the crown for Best Actress – Drama Series and became the youngest ever best actress for her leading role in the gritty HBO teen drama, Euphoria.

Available to stream on NOW TV or to buy on Amazon, Euphoria is an American adaptation of an Israeli show, and sees Zendaya take on the role of a troubled teenager who’s fresh out of rehab and has no intentions of staying drug free. Thrusted against a typical teenage party scene, we see the world through a drug-fused lens.

Schitt’s Creek

The show that really stole the night was Schitt’s Creek, which won the most awards from one season, including Best Comedy, Best Actress – Comedy Series, Best Actor – Comedy Series, Supporting Actress – Comedy Series, Supporting Actor – Comedy Series, Writing for a Comedy Series and Directing for a Comedy Series.

The wildly hilarious comedy follows a wealthy family whose world is turned upside down when they suddenly end up bankrupt and end up living at the lasting asset the family owns, a rough small town called Schitt’s Creek.

Ozark also found itself with a certain few nominations and Julia Garner nabbed herself an Emmy for Supporting Actress – Drama Series.

From the creator of The Accountant and The Judge, the drama series follows a family who move to the sunny corner of the Ozarks, but of course it isn’t quite the sunny haven they first thought. Starring Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde and Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde, Marty ends up on the run after a money-laundering attempt gone wrong…
